I have also attached an approved wall assembly. We have followed the approved wall assembly exactly other than at th tub flange here is a break in the second layer at this point. The second layer is installed above and below the flange. *. .YO r m r# JiM /1O - S1O 7 7 renZiO wit 614' S v i e Thank you, Justin From: Justin Bernard Sent: Wednesday, February 09, 2011 12:19 PM To: 'Jeffrey Wheeler' Subject: RE: 3155 Coachman Road Unit 215 Hello Jeffrey, /Vf/zeiir # c 7iog Justin Bernard (Project Manager Office 612 - 276 -1674 Fax 612 - 276 -1773 Email justin.bernard @thecrew2.com 2650 Minnehaha Avenue Minneapolis Minnesota 55406 Confidentiality Notice: This email and any attachments originated from Crew2 Inc. may contain information that is proprietary, privileged client communications or work product. I have been going round and round with the local management company and the corporate management company and they have yet to locate a set of the original plans for the building. The assembly that you have provided is for a 2 hr wall, probably more than is required. have looked for the original building plans to determine what was required at the time that it was built. I have not located them yet. In the mean time, have your sub draw a cross section of what he believes is there, I'm still having hard time with which piece is continuous and where the tub flange lands. Once you have sketch of what is there then you can search for an assembly that matches that. The flange overlapped the first layer of 5/8" 2) Another piece of 5/8" gypsum board was installed from the floor to the bottom of the flange. There is a double layer of 5/8 " from the floor to the bottom of the flange. 3) From the flange to the ceiling there is a layer of durock installed over the 5/8" gypsum board. The durock was installed as a tile backer in this location. 4) From the flange to the ceiling there has been wall tile installed. I could not find anything from Underwriter's Labs that tested tubs as part of a listed firewall assembly. This is a list of what was done on the job. I cannot locate an assembly with durock and tile over a layer of gypsum board. If you will not accept this application then I will need to discuss other options with the owner where we will install two layers of gypsum board above the flange. There is a common wall between condo units that we have properly met the fire assembly requirements. We have installed continuous 5/8" Type X gypsum board to the top of the tub flange. Above this point we have installed continuous backer board and the brand is Denshield. The Denshield installed is 5/8" Type X Tile Backer and it is fire rate or a 2 -our wall assembly. The 5/8" Fireguard Type X meets ASTM criteria for Type X (Type X fire resistant); therefore it can be substituted for Type X gypsum board specified in generic rated wall assemblies listed in the Gypsum Association Fire Reference Design Manual, Publication GA -600. I have attached the manufactures specs for the Denshield brand backer board for fire assembly. Please call or email me with any questions.
