SPRING BREAK SPECIAL EVENT
To celebrate the end of winter - to look
forward to summer activities - the Parks
& Recreation Department invites children
ages 6-12 to take part in a special event
n Friday, April 1, 1983. Children are
asked to come to Cedar Pond Park at 10:30
A.M. or to Carlson Lake Park at 1:30 P.M.
Helium balloons will be tagged with the
children's names
and released. The child
whose balloontravels the farthest and

No pre -registration is required and no
fee will be charged.
EASTER EGG HUNT
The City of Eagan Parks 6 Recreation
Department will conduct the fifth annual
Easter Egg Hun[n Saturday, April 2,
1983, at 3:00 P.M.for children ages 2
through 6. The event will be held at Rahn
Park.
BEGINNING RIDING LESSONS
Beginning riding lessons are
e intended for
youths ages 13, 14 and 15. Lesson content
is designed for the individual who has
never riden a horse. Basics such as how
toadjust the stirrups, how to neck rein
and how to talk to your horse with your
knees will be included.

TINY TOTS
The spring session of Tiny Tots Recrea-
tional Activities will begin the week of
March 21, 1983 and continue for 8 weeks.
This program for children ages 3,4 and
5 includes activities such as: singing,
finger rhymes, simple crafts, group games
and supervised outdoor play. Group size
is limited.
Section I 10:00 AM -Noon Monday 6 Wed.
Section II 1:00-3:00 PM Monday 6 Wed.
Section III 10:00 AM -Noon Tues. & Thurs.
Section IV 1:00-3:00 PM Tues. & Thurs.

MIXED DOUBLES TENNIS LEAGUE
A mixed doubles tennis league for adults
is offered this spring. Play will be at
the Rahn Tennis Courts on Wednesday
evenings. Pro set rather than match play
will be used. Preference will be to Eagan
residents.
The league is open to advanced beginners
through advanced players. The league will
be organized to ability.
The spring league will begin play in mid-
May and continue for approximately eight
weeks.
Registration is to be made with the Parks
6 Recreation Department. In addition to
the registration fee, participants will
be asked to provide a can of new balls
for half of their matches. An organiza-
tional meeting will be held after regis-
trations are complete.

mately May 18, 1983

DOG OBEDIENCE
Two sections of dog obedience training
are offered this spring. The novice
section is for dogs that have completed
the beginner class. The beginner section
is for dogs with no prior obedience work.
The spring session will be 8 weeks in
length.
Class requirements a The dog must be
9 months old or older. The handler may
be an adult or youth, 11 years or older,
however, theindividual must work
the dog at each class session. Certifi-
cate of rabies vaccination must be brought
to the first class. Equipment needed in-
cludes: a choker chain and a 6 foot
leather Leash.
Section 1 Novice 6:00-7:00 PM
Section II Beginner 7:15-8:15 PM

Dates: Thursdays, April 14 -June 2
Cost: $12.50

YOUTH BOWLING LESSONS
In cooperation with Cedarvale Lanes, les-
sons for 4th, 5th and 6th graders are
offered. The youths will learn bowling
etiquette, how to select a ball, a step
by step progression for delivery of the
ball and how to keep scare.
The entire program is 6 weeks 1n length.
Following the first concentrated lesson,
five weeks of supervised bowling will
occur for chose registered.
The lessons[ offered from 4:00-5:30
P.N. n Mondaysbeginning April 4 or on
Thursdays beginning April 7, 1983. Croup
size will be kept small.
Registration is to be made with the Parks
& Recreation Department. The $4.00
registration fee covers the firs[ session
activities. At each of, the supervised
bowling sessions, $2.00 is to be paid to
Cedarvale lanes to cover shoe rental and
11r hours of bowling.

CITY SOFTBALL /BASEBALL FIELDS
Permits issued by the Department of Parks
& Recreation are required for all games
played on City fields between May 1 and
September 1. Use of fields for practice
remains on a first come /first served
basis.
SUMMER USE OF SOCCER FIELDS
The Blue Cross soccer fields will be
unavailable for use until mid -June.
Permits for league games at Norchview
Athletic Fields are required. Cogches
are Co call the Parks & Recreation office,
454 -7002, to arrange for a permit.
"PICNIC KITS"
Several "picnic kit" plans at no charge
or for a small fee are available for
neighborhood picnics. Generally, May 15-
September 15 are the dates applicable.

TOURNAMENTS AT NORTHVIEW ATHLETIC FIELDS
Reservations for a limited number of week-
end tournaments are n o w being accepted.
Information regarding requirements and
fees is available at the Parks & Recrea-

GARDEN PLOTS

has a limited number of garden plots
available for use by Eagan residents.
Plots sill be available n r Pilot Knob
Road at Towerview Road. Each plot will
be approximately 20' x 20'. A fee of
85.00 per plot will be charged.
The City will perform an initial prepara-
tion of the plot but will not be responsi-
ble for care, watering, liability due to
injury or clean up.
Prospective gardeners are requested not
to use the City plots to plant corn.
Interested residents may pick up informa-
tion and an application form at the Parks
& Recreation office, 3501 Coachman Road.
Assignment of plots will be made on a
firs[ me/first s ved basis beginning
approximately April 18, 1983.

HELP PLAN EAGAN'S PARKS
Last spring and summer, Eagan's residents
were informed about the City's park system
planning protest "hen just being under-

residents not as many ' hoped,
attended park planning workshops B last May
and June. Using input from these work-
shops, the newsletter surveys, and other
methods, the park planners have estab-
lished some preliminary concepts. They
are prepared to share these ideas about
park development a[ e second round of
neighborhood workshops.
To allow residents to review these plans
and talk to the planners, six evening
workshops are planned for April. If pos-
sible, residents should try to attend the
session which includes their neighborhood.
The six park planning districts and their
corresponding meeting dates are:
Park District 1 - Monday, April 11
Park District 2 - Wednesday, April 13
Park District 3 - Thursday, April 14
Park District 4 - Monday, April 18
Park District 5 - Wednesday, April 20
Park District 6 - Thursday, April 21
All meetings will be at 7.00 P.M. in the
City Hall C o ncil Chambers. If you miss
the meeting intended for your area, you
are welcome at one of the other meetings.
Each meeting will include a r eview of
plans for existing and future parks in
that park district. Also included will
be a presentation of overall plans on
trails, lakes and special facilities on

In the future, hearings may occur on indi-
