Jill,
I received your revised drawing of the proposed shed. Your drawing still shows the shed partly within the gas line
easement. I suspect this may be because you were working from a reduced size copy of the survey, so the scale was not
accurate. For this reason, I reprinted the survey on a legal size paper so it would be to scale, and used your
measurements (8' x 10' shed, 25' off the back corner of the house) to determine the proposed location of the shed. I
have attached this drawing for you. This location leaves the corner of the shed approx. 2' from the edge of the pipeline
easement. I am approving the zoning permit for the shed based on the dimensions of the 1987 survey and the
measurements you provided. Please note, however, that it is your responsibility to ensure that the shed is properly
located on the lot so as not to encroach into the easement area.
As we discussed, the survey in our files was prepared before the house was constructed in 1987, so the actual location
of the house may vary from what is indicated on the survey. Because of this, the shed may actually be closer than 2' to
the easement, or may be a little further than 2' from the easement. You may wish to contact the gas company to see if
they are able to identify the extent of their easement on your property so you can be certain the shed does not
encroach into the easement area. Or you may wish to place the shed a little closer to the house to provide a sufficient
margin of error and ensure that the shed remains outside the easement.
