The commission reviews all residential development propos- als for park dedication requirements, reviews recreational programs and activities and deter- mines long -range planning objectives for park acquisition and development. The Commission meets monthly the Monday prior to the second City Council meeting, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. If you have an item that should appear before the Commission, you may contact the Director of Parks and Recreation to coordinate. Summer /Fall 2001 On -line Registrations Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through the "glitches" of on -line registration. We invite you to register for the classes noted in the brochure that are available for on -line registration. Hockey Camps Ice Show Indoor Turf ...:....: Public Open Skating ........ ,; , Skating School - •••••••.5 Registration Deadlines Registration deadlines are established for each class to help provide a positive experience for recreation program participants by ensuring appropriate staffing, supplies and facilities to meet the registration needs. We appreciate your understanding when we are not able to accommodate cancellations, transfers or registrations after the registration deadline. Confirmations Letters of confirmation are not sent. You can assume that you are in the class you registered for unless you receive a call to the contrary. We will call you only if: • The class you have requested has reached its registration limit and you were placed on the waiting list. • Your second choice was processed. • Your registration form is incomplete. • Your class is being canceled due to insufficient registration. Wait Lists Due to facility space and staff limitations, many classes have registration limits. When classes have reached their maximum registration, a wait list will be started. You will remain on the wait list until the class begins. If an opening becomes available due to a cancellation, it will be offered to the first /next person on the wait list until the opening is filled. Every effort will be made to create additional lass sections, and you will be contacted if your registration is able to be accommodated. Once the class begins, if we have been unable to accommodate you, we will return the fee(s) paid. Transfers Eagan Parks and Recreation will make every effort to accommodate your request to transfer to another class; however, that may not always be possible. Canceling a Class Registration fees for programs canceled by Park and Recreation will be fully refunded. No refunds on team activities are possible. • If you cancel your class before the registration deadline, Eagan Parks and Recreation will refund your registration fee, minus a $5 processing fee. • If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we are able to fill your vacancy from the wait list, Eagan Parks and Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing fee. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we are not able to fill your vacancy, Eagan Parks and Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing fee and any other class costs incurred on your behalf. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. • If you cancel your class after the class has begun, there will be no refund. Equal Access Policy The City of Eagan is committed to providing equal access to its programs, facilities and employment without regard to race, creed, color, sex, national origin or handicap. Scholarships 1 The Eagan Foundation /Byerly's Scholarship Fund has limited scholarships available to provide financial assistance for youth participation in recreational activities in the city Scholarships cover a portion of the fees charged. For additional information, contact Parks and Recreation at 651- 681 -4660. Eagan Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel postpone, or combine classes and change instructors. Programs not meeting the minimum registration requirements will be canceled and full refunds will be issued. All participants in canceled classes will be notified by Parks and Recreation staff. Registrations can be submitted by mail, drop box, in person or by phone. Please note the dates at right when each registration period begins. 3. Attach payment to your registration form. Checks should be made payable to the City of Eagan. If paying by VISA or MasterCard, include all information requested on the registration form. 4. Include a self - addressed stamped envelope if you would like a confirmation of your registration. Letters of confirmation are not sent. 1. 5. Classes are filled on a first -come, first- served basis. Activities with limited space may fill before the registration deadline. 6. Requests to change activity locations, sections or times for registrations already completed will be accommodated on a space - available basis (see page 4). He fills the air with vocals and instruments, including a bamboo flute, acoustic guitar, shakers and more. Please join us on a fun adventure to St. Paul to the SteppingStone Theatre. The play, "Tasty Baby Belly Buttons is adapted from the popular children's book by Judy Sierra. The play is based on a whimsical Japanese folktale about the Oni (giants) who march through the village to destroy homes and take all the children for their favorite treat —Baby Belly Buttons!!! But one brave little girl was born in a watermelon and has no belly button! She enlists the help of her friends Dog, Pheasant, and Monkey to seek out the Oni and return the children of the village to their families. This musical is a adventure fantasy for all ages. After the play, we will return to Trapp Farm Park for a picnic. Participants are encouraged to join us for a picnic lunch and explore the playgound equipment within the park. The American Association of Retired Persons has developed a nationally recognized driver safety program for the mature driver. Persons 50 years and older may participate. Participants that are 55 and older and pass the course can receive a 10% reduction in insurance rates in Minnesota. There are two courses; a first time, 8 -hour course and a 4-hour refresher course. Picnic necessities such as water and electricity are available at each pavilion. Restroom facilities are nearby. The enclosed shelter buildings at Bridle Ridge, Sky Hill, Goat Hill, Quarry and Trapp Farm parks are also available for use by the community. These buildings will accommodate 30 -40 people. Parks and Recreation conducts programs in the shelter buildings during various seasons of the year. Private reservations are not accepted during class or general public hours. The pavilion and shelter building rental fee for Eagan residents is $70 per half day and $100 for a full day's use of these facilities. Non - resident individuals and corporations are charged $90 per half day, $120 per full day. Half day reservations are either 10:00 am to 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The morning begins with check -in from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by educational sessions Fun information includes learning pop can casting, measuring and weighing fish, fishing techniques and the basics of water ecology. After lunch, the group will head to the lake for fishing and then "hook up" with their parents at 4:00 p.m. MinnAqua and instructors will provide fishing rods, reels and tackle. Classes begin every 3 months - September, January, March and June. Me Two Ages: 2 years old and a parent Start your child's preschool experience with this class. You and your child will work on art projects, play with toys and meet new friends. A short group time includes finger plays and a story. All grade levels will be conducted during the same one -week camp from June 18 -21. Friday, June 22 will be used only if the camp is rained out a day during the week. Camps include a T- shirt, player awards, competitions, games, fundamental stations, drills, techniques, strategies, and mechanics. The Hitting Session will cover tees, soft toss, short toss, live pitching, cage hitting, and tunnel hitting. The Instructional Session will cover throwing, fielding, catching, base running, situational play and individual position play. Matches are played at Northview, Pilot Knob, Oak Chase Evergreen and Bur Oaks tennis courts. The league's focus is recreational singles play. Disparities in playing ability can be addressed through a handicap system. League standings are not kept. The intent is to introduce individuals who play tennis to each other. Registration and fees are due during the registration period. Participants must also indicate level of play (characteristics of playing levels are listed below) and any vacation dates on your registra- tion form. National Tennis Rating Program To Place Yourself: A. Begin with 1.5. Read all categories carefully and then decide which one best describes your present ability level. Be certain that you qualify on all points of all preceding levels as well as those in the level you choose. B. This new and unique opportunity supported by USTA offers a challenge without the added pressure of match play. Players accumu- late points by hitting to specific areas of the tennis court. Participants who accumulate the most points in their age category will qualify for the Serve & Volley finals in Minne- apolis. Everyone gets a Serve & Volley t -shirt and qualifies for the `Wilson Tennis Package" drawing, which includes a tennis racquet, bag, shoes and a can of balls.
