The following pages are filled with fun activities for all ages to enjoy. They include family events, preschool programs, youth programs, lessons, adult activities, senior activities and information about Cascade Bay, Eagan's own Aquatic Facility. The Summer and Fall seasons are a perfect time to enjoy Minnesota's beautiful weather by visiting Eagan's many parks. We have miles of trails for walking and biking, tennis courts, playgrounds and lots of open space. Pavilions and sun shelters can be rented out for family reunions, neighborhood picnics and weddings. Classes are offered every 3 months - September, January, March and June are the start months. Who is a preschooler? Children who are age 3, 4, or 5 and have not attended kindergarten may attend our programs Parent and child classes are offered for 2 year olds. The Me Two class is for children who are 2 and are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children must be the appropriate age when the program begins. Toilet Trained Children must be completely toilet trained and able to independently use the bathroom. Children are required to wear underwear, not pull -up type diapers. (This does not apply to the Me Two classes.) The Eagan Parks and Recreation Staff welcomes you and your preschooler to a wide selection of quality preschool programs. Teachers are experienced instructors who are committed to your preschooler having a positive experience. PICNIC KITS The Department of Parks and Recreation again offers "picnic kits" as a service to the community. You may wish to rent a kit for a special event at your home or for a gathering in a neighborhood park. The basic "picnic kit" include three items of your choice, subject to availability based on prior requests. A fee of $7.00, plus tax, is charged. A base fee of $10.00 is charged to non- residents. Select among the following items: Whiffle ball and bat Volleyball net, ball 8L poles Horseshoes Croquet sets Bocce ball Volleyball only Gunny sacks Frisbee Nerf football Playground ball Additional items may be selected at a fee of $3.00 per item. $5.00 per item for non-residents. CHUCKWAGON COOKER This trailer mounted covered cooker is ideal for large group gatherings. Dozens of hot dogs, hamburgers and bratwurst can be prepared at one time. The chuckwagon requires a 1 -7/8" ball hitch for towing. The rental fee is $30.00 for residents, $50.00 for non - residents, plus tax. TENT CANOPY The Department offers a 20'x20' canopy and a 10'x15' "pop up" for rent. Advanced reservations are advised. The rental fee is $55.00 for residents, $75.00 for non - residents, plus tax. The Thomas Lake pavilion features similar openness and the room to spread out. The feeling of seclusion is surprising in our suburban setting. The Blackhawk Park pavilion overlooks Blackhawk Lake and provides excellent views of the Minnesota River Valley. Open space for picnic games, walking trails, and a large fire ring are features of this facility. The pavilions will accommodate groups as large as 150 people. Picnic necessities such as water and electricity are available in the pavilion. Restroom facilities are nearby. Events can be planned for half or full days. Half day time blocks run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Activities which overlap either of the time periods will be considered a full day. Reservations are accepted for weekday or weekend events. The resident fee is $70 per half day or $100 for a full day. The first week of the program will focus on general leadership skills and the second week of the program participants will choose to focus on one of the three areas: Iifeguarding, concessions, or guest relations. The eight levels of the USSFSA program introduce the fundamental moves; forward skating, backward skating, stops, crossovers, turns, etc. Upon completion of the Basic 1 -8 levels, skaters will have the basic knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to the more specialized areas of skating; freeskating, dance, precision team, figures, moves -in -the field, hockey and power hockey. Each level must be passed before the mater can move to the next level. gir The Eagan skating school is converting to the USFSA test format because it covers a broader range of basic skills in its levels compared to the old program. This change will hopefully result in stronger and more knowledgable skaters. The new freestyle levels will encompass aspects of Ice Dance, Figures, Moves -in -the Field, Jumps and Spins.
