STICK HANDLING SCHOOL
Eagan Civic Arena
Stick handling is the skill that differentiates hockey players.
The players that can make moves, dekes and plays are the ones –
who can move to the next level.
The Stick handling school teaches all stick handling
fundamentals as well as all of the new dekes, fakes and moves
that a player needs to practice on and off the ice to become a
profident puck handler. We will teach everybody the basics and
the fancy moves. It will then be up to each individual player to
practice and become a player that can instinctively plan and
execute moves. Class is held Monday through Friday.

The "Basic Skills" are the fundamentals of this sport.
The eight levels of the USSFSA program introduce the
fundamental moves; forward skating, backward skating,
stops, crossovers, turns, etc. Upon completion of the
Basic 1 -8 levels, skaters will have the basic knowledge of
the sport enabling them to advance to the more
specialized areas of skating; freeskating, dance,
precision team, figures, moves -in -the field, hockey and
power hockey. Each level must be passed before the
mater can move to the next level.
gir
The Eagan skating school is converting to
the USFSA test format because it covers a
broader range of basic skills in its levels
compared to the old program. This change
will hopefully result in stronger and more
knowledgable skaters. The new freestyle
levels will encompass aspects of Ice Dance,
Figures, Moves -in -the Field, Jumps and Spins.
Upon completion of Freeskate Level 6,
skaters can go on to work with a private
coach on the more advanced aspects of figure
skating such as double and triple jumps.

The freeskating section of the basic skills program
introcuces skaters to a variety of advanced elements;
stroking, footwork, edges, turns, jumps and spins.
