HOLZ FARM
HISTORIC HOLZ FARM
Holz Farm was acquired in 1995 by the City of Eagan in
order to preserve the rich farming history of the area. This
beautiful setting is located in the southeast corner of the City
alongside Holz Lake. Currently, about 8 acres are owned by
the City to utilize for educational, historical and entertaining
activities. In 1996, efforts began to restore the house, barn
and outbuildings to the 1940's era. Due to the well-worn
condition of the site, there is still a long way to go.
The "Friends of the Farm" group has been formed to
expedite progress with fund- raising, restoration and
programming. This non -profit group will be the active
partner with the City in regards to Holz Farm. Membership
information is available by contacting Eagan Parks and
Recreation at 681 -4660 (TDD 454 - 8535).

volunteer opportunities for community-
minded people of all ages. Friends of
the Farm is a non - profit group formed to
help preserve, restore, and educate the
community concerning our agricultural
past. Currently efforts are focused on
the Holz Farm site. They have the
City's blessing to fund- raise, restore, and
program at the site.
The Friends of the Farm is a
relatively new organization. Therefore,
many openings are available for a
variety of skills. Help is needed with:
Fund - raising

Newsletter production
Membership organization
Special events staffing
Tour guides

As you can see, a variety of people
are welcome. Think about a rewarding
experience with other committed
volunteers who believe in preserving our
heritage, educating students of all ages,
connecting the past with the present,
building community pride, and
providing a historical resource for the
ever- changing world around us.

FACILITIES
PICNIC PAVILIONS
The picnic pavilion at Trapp Farm Park features a
covered space, yet its openness creates the feeling of being
close to the trees and the water of Schwanz Lake.
The Thomas Lake pavilion features similar openness and
the room to spread out. The feeling of seclusion is
surprising in our suburban setting.
The Blackhawk Park pavilion overlooks Blackhawk Lake
and provides excellent views of the Minnesota River Valley.
Open space for picnic games, walking trails, and a large fire
ring are features of this facility.
The pavilions will accommodate groups as large as 150
people. Picnic necessities such as water and electricity are
available in the pavilion. Restroom facilities are nearby.
Events can be planned for half or full days. Half day

periods will be considered a full day.
