The commission reviews all residential development proposals for park dedication requirements, reviews recreational programs and activities and determines long -range planning objectives for park acquisition and development. The Commission meets monthly the Monday prior to the second City Council meeting, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. If you have an item that should appear before the Commission, you may contact the Director of Parks and Recreation to coordinate. We appreciate your understanding when we are not able to accommodate cancellations, transfers or registrations after the registration deadline Confirmations Letters of confirmation are not sent. You can assume that you are in the class you registered for unless you receive a call to the contrary. We will call you only if: • The class you have requested has reached its registration limit and you were placed on the waitlist. • Your second choice was processed. • Your registration form is incomplete. • Your class is being canceled. Scholarships A limited Scholarship Fund is available to provide financial assistance for youth participation in recreational activities. Scholarships cover a portion of the fees charged. If you cancel your class before the registration deadline, Eagan Parks and Recreation will refund your registration fee, minus a $5 processing fee. If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we arc able to fill your vacancy from the wait list, Eagan Parks and Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing fee. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we are notable to fill your vacancy, Eagan Parks arid Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing fee and any other class costs incurred on your behalf. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. If you cancel your class after the class has begun, there will be no refund. Eagan Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes and change instructors. Programs not meeting the minimum registration requirements will be canceled and full refunds will be issued. Remember: To be eligible for the show, skaters must participate in both the 2003 winter and spring sessions of Skate School. New registrations for Spring begins January 30 and ends on February 8. All skaters enrolled must be Individual Members of the Ice Skating Institute (ISI). If you DID NOT participate during the 2001 -2002 season you need to add an additional $10 to your registration. If you DID participate during the 2001 -2002 season a membership renewal card will be mailed to your home and it is your responsibility to RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP Those enrolled in the 2002 Fall Session will have a priority sign up for Winter Session from November 16 thru November 21. Those enrolled in Winter Session have priority registration for Spring Session from January 25 thru January 30. Space will be available on a first come first serve basis until class is full. We reserve the right to limit class size and enrollment. Full payment must accompany the registration form. Confirmation of Enrollment A postcard will be sent with your skaters class and practice time one week prior to the start of the dass. If the class you requested is full, you will be notified by a phone call immediately after your registration is received. 651- 681 -4660 Refunds, Cancellations and Make-up Policy No refunds are issued after classes begin. Refunds will be considered on a case by case basis for skaters ages 3 and under. There are no make up lessons. Lessons cancelled 7 days prior to start or after lessons begin will be assessed a fee of $5. Class Size Beginner (ages 5 and under) classes will have up to 9 skaters per instructor and one helper. Pre Alpha, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Adult and Starter Hockey classes will accommodate up to 12 skaters per instructor, although every effort is made to keep class sizes smaller. Freestyle 1 -10 classes will accommodate up to 6 skaters per instructor (minimum of 2 skaters). Practice Ice ONLY skaters enrolled in the program may use the practice area. Skaters ages 5 and under may be accompanied by ONE PARENT during practice. Parents may not use practice area while skater is in lesson. Freestyle classes DO NOT have practice time included with the fee. svb U >>men tO c � a5s es to c�ax'�e Discover the Benefits Skate School ISI Testing Program The Ice Skating Institute (ISI) is a complete graded program of lessons with a high standard for correctness. The ISI Testing Program makes every effort for skaters to earn badges. We will test only those skaters ready to pass, so as to make it a positive environment for learning. Keep in mind that it is not uncommon for a skater to repeat a level before mastering all the skills required. Skates and Skating Attire Staff recommends boots of leather rather than vinyl or molded plastics. Blades should be properly sharpened. Double runners are not accepted. Excellent rental skates are available at the Eagan Civic Arena for a $2 charge when used during skating lessons. Dress skater in layers that are warm, comfortable and allow freedom of movement while skating. Mittens or gloves are required for skaters ages 5 and under and are recommended for all others HELMETS ARE REQUIRED FOR SKATERS AGES 5 AND UNDER. The helmet must cover the back of the head. Beginner: Skaters with little or no skating experience. Classes will be divided according to age. Pre Alpha: Skaters who have progressed from Beginner or who have mastered the skills of skating on their own and can do the start of a stop. Alpha: Skaters who have passed Pre Alpha level or who have mastered the skill of a one foot glide on each foot and are beginning to move backwards. Beta: Skaters who have passed Alpha level or who have mastered the skill of forward crossovers in both directions and can stop. Gamma: Skaters who have passed Beta level or have mastered the skill of backward crossovers in both directions and can do t- stops. Delta: Skaters who have passed Gamma level or have mastered the skill of forward outside three turns on each foot and the 7 step mohawk combination. Adult: Our adult lasses are divided according to ability and needs. Power Hockey: Skaters will be divided into 3 groups according to their ability level. Half ice will be used for 30 minutes of instruction. Focus will be to improve basic skating skills, speed and edge control. Full hockey gear is recommended, mandatory gear is helmet, shin pads and elbow pads. This class is open to boys and girls, mini -mite & mite age. Parents if your skater is just starting he /she needs to register for a beginning skating class. Participants for Hockey Skills MUST be able to skate on their own and have knowledge of gliding and stopping. No sticks or pucks will be used. Freestyle /Power: This 45 minute class begins with a 15 minute strength and conditioning warm -up followed by 30 minutes of instructin. full ice is used for this class. Skaters are grouped according to their ISI Freestyle level. Each ISI freestyle level has 6 required elements that must be mastered and then skated to music. Student /teacher ration is 4/5 to 1. Introduction to Private Lessons: This class gives the skater the opportunity to try one on one instruction from an Eagan skating School staff member. Lessons are 15 minutes in length with 30 minutes of practice time. This is a great way to get started with private lessons. For skaters working on the Alpha level and up. Eagan Parks and Recreation Preschool Program's focus is on the social development of children ages two through five years old. The full moon provides ample light to spy tracks and other signs of winter creatures, their quiet evening disturbed by our giant paws. Glide, whirl and swirl your way down the snow - packed hill of fun. To improve your )tubing experience, the Parks and Recreation Department has purchased commercial tubes for use at Trapp Farm Park and Central Park. With this addition, there will be a fee of $3 /person for unlimited tubing at either facility. Tubes are available at both locations for the public's entertainment. You may no longer bring any of your own innertubes, sleds, toboggans or other sledding devices. Participants must be able to walk up -hill. Tow -ropes are not available at either, facility A shelter building is available at both locations. Both sites will be very busy with public snow tubing and are not suitable for birthday parties or group events. No birthday parties, presents or food will be allowed in the shelter during regular public tubing hours. However, group options are available at Trapp Farm Park. The retreat center will accommodate meeting groups of up to 35.
