The commission reviews all residential development proposals for park dedication requirements, reviews recreational programs and activities and determines long -range planning objectives for park acquisition and development. The Commission meets monthly the Monday prior to the second City Council meeting, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Private data is available to you and to City staff who need to have this information to perform their duties, but not to the public. While you may choose to withhold this data, the consequences could be that the City's recreation staff may not be able to complete your registration and /or you may not receive updated program information, such as schedule changes. Eagan Parks and Recreation periodically takes pictures of participants in our classes, during special events and in the parks. Please be aware that these photos may be used in the City's brochures, pamphlets, or cable presentations. Sun Puppet Recreation Registration F Registration Y C' Welcome . 3 Registration Registration Deadlines Registration deadlines are established for each class to help provide a positive experience for recreation program participants by ensuring appropriate staffing, supplies and facilities to meet the registration needs. We appreciate your understanding when we are not able to accommodate cancellations, transfers or registrations after the registration deadline. Confirmations Letters of confirmation are not sent. You can assume that you are in the class you registered for unless you receive a call to the contrary. We will call you only if: • The class you have requested has reached its registration limit and you were placed on the waitlist. • Your second choice was processed. • Your registration form is incomplete. • Your class is being canceled. Scholarships A limited Scholarship Fund is available to provide financial assistance for youth participation in recreational activities. Scholarships cover a portion of the fees charged. For additional information, contact Parks and Recreation at 651- 675 -5500. Transfers Eagan Parks and Recreation will make every effort to accommodate your request to transfer to another class; however, that may not always be possible. Wait Lists Due to facility space and staff limitations, many classes have registration limits. When classes have reached their maximum registration, a wait list will be started. You will remain on the wait list until the class begins. If an opening becomes available due to a cancellation, it will be offered to the first /next person on the wait list until the opening is filled. Every effort will be made to create additional class sections, and you will be contacted if your registration is able to be accommodated. Once the class begins, if we have been unable to accommodate you, we will return the fee(s) paid. Equal Access Policy The City of Eagan is committed to providing equal access to its programs, facilities and employment without regard to race, creed, color, sex, national origin or handicap. Auxiliary aids for persons with disab>Yities wishing to attend or participate in the City of Eagan recreation programs are available upon request at least 96 hours in advance of theevent. If a notice of less than 96 hours is received, the City will make every attempt to provide the aids. However, this may not be possible with short notice. Discover the Benefits Eagan Parks and Recreation Canceling a Class Registration fees for programs II canceled by Parks and Recreation will be fully refunded. No refunds on team activities are possible. If you cancel your class before the registration deadline, Eagan Parks and Recreation will refund your registration fee, minus a $5 processing fee. If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we are able to fill your vacancy from the wait list, Eagan Parks and Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing fee. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we are not able to fill your vacancy, Eagan Parks and Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing feeA and any other class costs incurred on your behalf. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. If you cancel your class after the class has begun, there will be no refund. Eagan Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes and change instructors. Programs not meeting the minimum registration requirements will be canceled and full refunds will be issued. Discover the Benefits Eagan Parks and Recreation Free Fishing Clinic Ages 9 — I3 Treat your child to a special day with the fish, MinnAqua staff and Parks and Recreation staff. Youth will learn to identify fish and fish habitat, trace the path of water runoff from your home, and participate in a variety of instructional sessions. Oh — and youth will get to fish too! The morning begins with check - in from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by fun, educational sessions like pop can casting, measuring and weighing fish, and the basics of water ecology. After lunch, head to the lake for fishing before "hooking up" with parents at 4:00 pm MinnAqua and instructors will provide fishing rods, reels and tackle. Participants are asked to bring their own bag lunch, a beverage will be provided. MinnAqua was created by the Department of Natural Resources in 1990. The purpose of the program to teach the recreation, ecology, conservation and ethics of angling. MinnAqua is run in cooperation with the Minnesota Extension service 4-H programs and is funded by several national and local sponsors including LCMR, RIM, Federal Aid in Sport Fishing Restoration Act, and locally the Eagan Water Quality Program and members of In- Fishermen. If you've never run before, are just starting out, or training for a marathon, you can experience the Fun of Running. The course begins and ends at the Northview Park Athletic Complex and includes a variety of scenic views along the way. Race lengths include a two -mile and five -mile followed by a half -mile Ducky Dash for children. Awards will be given to the first and second place male and female finishers in each of the following age categories: 14 and under, 15 — 19, 20 — 29, 30 — 39, 40 — 49, 50 — 57, and 58 and over. Come early for group stretching and muscle warm -up. Fifteen to twenty minutes of instructed body movements begin at 7:25 am and 8:00 am for everyone interested. Eagan's run is the kick -off for the 2003 Ground Pounders Grand Prix Running Series sponsored by the South of the River Recreators (SORR). The cities of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Lakeville, Farmington, Prior Lake /Savage, and Rosemount make up the SORR group and also host runs throughout the summer. Picnic . necessities such as water and electricity are available at each pavilion. Restroom facilities are nearby. The pavilions at Trapp Farm Park, Thomas Lake Park, Blackhawk Park and Central Park feature a covered space, yet each park has a unique look and feel. Each offers grilling opportunities and a picturesque park setting for any gathering. The enclosed shelter buildings at Bridle Ridge, Sky Hill, Goat Hill, Quarry and Trapp Farm parks are also available for use by the community. These buildings will accommodate 30 -40 people. Electricity, hot and cold running water and restrooms are features in all facilities. The shelter building at Trapp Farm park also has a fireplace. Parks and Recreation conducts programs in the shelter buildings during various seasons of the year. Private reservations are not accepted during class or general public hours. The pavilion and shelter building rental fee for Eagan residents is $75 per half day and $110 for a full day's use of these facilities. Non - resident individuals and corporations are charged $110 per half day, $155 per full day. Half day reservations are either 10:00 am to 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Activities which overlap either of the time periods will be considered a full day (10:00 am to 10:00 pm).
