The commission reviews all residential development proposals for park dedication requirements, reviews recreational programs and activities and determines long - range planning objectives for park acquisition and development. The Commission meets monthly the Monday prior to the second City Council meeting, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. If you have an item that should appear before the Commission, you may contact the Director of Parks and Recreation to coordinate. Private data is available to you and to City staff who need to have this information to perform their duties, but not to the public. While you may choose to withhold this data, the consequences could be that the City's recreation staff may not be able to complete your registration and /or you may not receive updated program information, such as schedule changes. Eagan Parks and Recreation periodically takes pictures of participants in our classes, during special events and in the parks. Please be aware that these photos may be used in the City's brochures, pamphlets, or cable presentations. If you or your family members do not want to be photographed or published you must give us written notice. 3 Registration Registration Deadlines Registration deadlines are established for each class to help provide a positive experience for recreation program participants by ensuring appropriate staffing, supplies and facilities to meet the registration needs. We appreciate your understanding when we are not able to accommodate cancellations, transfers or registrations after the registration deadline. Participants must be the appropriate age when the class begins. Confirmations Letters of confirmation are not sent. You can assume that you are in the class you registered for unless you receive a call to the contrary. We will call you only if: • The class you have requested has reached its registration limit and you were placed on the waitlist. • Your second choice was processed. • Your registration form is incomplete. • Your class is being canceled. Scholarships A limited Scholarship Fund is available to provide financial assistance for youth participation in recreational activities. Scholarships cover a portion of the fees charged. For additional information, contact Parks and Recreation at 651- 675 -5500. Discover the Benefits Eagan Parks and Recreation Canceling a Class Registration fees for programs• canceled by Parks and Recreation will be fully refunded. No refunds on team activities are possible. If you cancel your class before the registration deadline, Eagan Parks and Recreation will refund your registration fee, minus a $5 processing fee. If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we are able to fill your vacancy from the wait list, Eagan Parks and Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing fee. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. If you cancel your class after the registration deadline, and we are not able to fill your vacancy, Eagan Parks and Recreation will issue a rebate certificate, minus a $5 processing fedi and any other class costs incurred o your behalf. Rebate certificates can be used for future recreation programs. If you cancel your class after the class has begun, there will be no refund. Eagan Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes and change instructors. Dress skater in layers that are warm, comfortable and allow freedom of movement while skating. Mittens or gloves are required for skaters ages 5 and under and are recommended for all others. Skating School ISI Class Descriptions Please note: If you are new to the program, place your skater in a lower level than you think, as each skater is evaluated the first day of lessons. Beginner (Ages 3 -6) Levels 1 -4: Level 1 - For beginners who have never skated before. Level 2 - Can march while moving and begin a 2 foot glide. Level 3 - Can push, glide and do forward swizzles. Level 4 - Can skate backwards. *Age 6 and under should sign up for Beginners unless they have passed Beginner 4. *Ages 7 and up with skating experience, should sign up for Pre Alpha. Beginner Age 7 and up: Skaters with no skating experience. Pre Alpha: Skater who can perform at least 3 forward swizzles and skate backwards. Alpha: Skaters who have passed Pre Alpha level or who have mastered the skill of a one foot glide on each foot and are beginning to move backwards. Beta: Skaters who have passed Alpha level or who have mastered the skill of forward crossovers in both directions and can stop. Gamma: Skaters who have passed Beta level or have mastered the skill of backward crossovers in both directions and can do t- stops. Delta: Skaters who have passed Gamma level or have mastered the skill of forward outside three turns on each foot and the 7 step mohawk combination. Adult: Our adult classes are divided according to ability and needs. Please specify on your application if you are a very Beginner (never skated), Beginner (skate and stop), Intermediate (forward and backward crossovers), or Advanced (three turns, mohawks). Hockey Skills Levels 1 -4: Skaters will be divided into groups according to ability. Full hockey gear is required. This class is recommended for boys and girls ages 5 -9 that need to improve their skating skills. Focus will be to improve basic skating skills, speed and edge control. Helmet, shin pads and elbow pads are mandatory. This class is open to boys and girls, mini mite and mite age. Parents: If your skater is just starting he /she needs to register for a Beginner skating class. Particpants MUST be able to skate on their own and have knowledge of gliding and stopping. No sticks or pucks will be used. *Hockey Skills Level 1 & 2: Skaters should be working on Pre Alpha elements. *Hockey Skills Level 3 & 4: Skaters must have passed Alpha. Freestyle: Full ice is used for this class. Skaters are grouped according to their ISI Freestyle level. Each ISI Freestyle level has 6 required elements that must be mastered and then skated to music. Introduction to Private Lessons: This class gives the skater the opportunity to try one on one instruction from an Eagan skating School staff member. Lessons are 15 minutes in length with 30 minutes of practice time. This is a great way to get started with private lessons. For skaters working on the Alpha level and up. No private hockey instruction is allowed during this class. Skaters may only take this class twice.
