Re: Requesting Representation of the Metropolitan Airport
Commission Staff
The City of Eagan has established an Airport Noise Committee to
provide fact finding information to the Eagan City Council
C regarding noise generated from the Minneapolis /St. Paul
' International Airport. In these Committee meetings there have
been representation from the FAA, the Metropolitan Council and
State Representatives to try to discuss the parameters and issues
regarding airport noise. The last agency the Noise Committee is
requesting to speak with is representatives from MAC,
Metropolitan Airport Commission. Therefore, we would appreciate
that you could be in attendance at the next Commmittee meeting to
be held on August 21, 1984, at 4:15 P.M., at the Eagan City
Hall.
Hopefully this letter will confirm our telephone conversation of
last week regarding this request of the City.
Sincerely,
G ik . Dale C. Runkle LAL/

THE LONE OAK TREE THE SYMBOL OF STRENGTH AND GROWTH IN OUR COMMUNITY /
MEMO TO: AIRPORT NOISE COMMITTEE MEMBERS
FROM: CITY ADMINISTRATOR TOM HEDGES
DATE: AUGUST 20, 1984
SUBJECT: BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR THE AUGUST 21, 1984
AIRPORT NOISE COMMITTEE MEETING
It was requested at the August 7 meeting that Mr. Jeff Hamiel,
representing the Metropolitan Airports Commission, be present
to discuss airport noise regulations 'and answer questions by
Committee members at the August 21 meeting. Mr. Hamiel is planning
to attend.
Lately our attendance has been noticeably low and technically
is not representative of a full quorum. With vacations and other
summer activities it is difficult to maintain a meeting schedule.
In addition to Mr. Hamiel's appearance, we are hoping to review
fact findings that were prepared by the City Attorney and if
those findings can be adopted, a recommendation will be made
to the full City Council for adoption. Therefore, it is important
to have as much Committee involvement as possible so a consensus
opinion is presented to the City Council.
The City has received a number of calls during the summer from
residents of the community regarding air traffic noise. Residents
are pleased that a committee was formed to analyze the issue
and are awaiting a final recommendation of the Committee. It
is suggested that a position be taken and presented to the City
Council at either the September 4 or September 18 City Council
meeting.
If any of the Committee would like additional information or
would like to add something to the agenda, please feel free to
call this office or include the items at the meeting tomorrow
afternoon.

MEMO TO: ALL MEMBERS OF THE AIRPORT NOISE COMMITTEE
FROM: CITY ADMINISTRATOR HEDGES
DATE: AUGUST 30, 1984
SUBJECT: AIRPORT NOISE COMMITTEE MEETING
At the last regular meeting of the Airport Noise Committee held
on August 21, 1984, a special meeting was set for September
11, 1984, at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of analyzing the Committee's
findings this summer and preparing a statement and recommendation
for the City Council.
Unfortunately, that meeting was set for the same evening the
City Council Chambers will be used for the primary election.
The City has maintained a practice to not conduct Committee,
Commission or Council meetings on the night of primary and general
elections. Because the Committee Rooms and Council Rooms will
be used for polling places and other activities by the election
judges it is necessary to reschedule the meeting for another
date. The date of Thursday, September 20, at 7:30 P.M. in the
Conference Rooms at the Municipal Center Building is the date
for this workshop session.
Please mark your calendars. A letter with additional support
information will be sent out prior to the September 20, meeting.
