A description of the sheds, along with photos, was provided by Mike Peterson of Aspen Development in two emails dated February 6, 2012 and February 7, 2012. No other areas of the residence were reviewed at this time and a site visit was not conducted by this office. The two sheds will be structurally adequate to resist a 42 psf snow load and a load corresponding to a 90 mph, exposure B wind, with the following provisions. It is understood that a light gage post cap was installed from the front and back beams to the posts. However, a clip similar to a Simpson H3 should be installed from each end of every other rafter to the beam below. Also, it should be noted that the 1" OSB sheathing on the large shed the 3 /4" plywood sheathing on the smaller shed will experience significant deflection with the code mandated wind loading. However, the structure is not dependent on sheathing for stability and brittle finishes are not a part of the construction. Therefore, deflections should not affect the performance of the sheds.
