NEW BUSINESS
A. Procurement/Green Building Discussion
Foote gave a brief overview of the Community Center project. An energy audit is
currently being conducted and the next design phase will begin discussing building materials. Public
input is being received from the focus groups. See the packet for more information on green building
techniques and the energy audit.
B. Mural Wall and Reusable Mugs in Cascade Bay
Foote stated Kay Gustufson from the Art House is excited about the mural walls and
would like direction from the Commission about the design. Possible mural locations are the bathroom
areas, locker rooms, and concession area. The Commission discussed ideas for the mural walls. Their
direction for the Art House is to keep it light hearted, colorful and not to lose site of the recycling theme.
They suggested a plaque could explain the type of paint used in the project. The Commission would like
to see possible designs at the August meeting and formed a subcommittee to assist with the design
process. Sammon and Tapper will form the subcommittee.
Foote showed a drink bottle sample with a 40% recycled- content. The bottle would have
the Cascade Bay logo, the Choose to Reduce logo, and possibly the Coca -Cola logo. The Coca -Cola
logo would be included if they contributed funding for the bottles. The Commission suggested the bottle
have a flip top lid instead of a squirt lid.
ADJOURNMENT
Hurd moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:45 p.m. It was seconded by Hooppaw with all
members present voting in favor.

PETE's Big Bin collection containers make PET plastic recycling easy by
offering convenient recycling locations for individual -size PET (iPET)
beverage bottles, which are PET plastic beverage bottles of 24 ounces or
less that are marked with the #1 code on or near the bottom of the
container. They take recycling to the consumers by collecting today's
portable bottles where they are used - libraries, college campuses, parks
and public buildings - anywhere you find empty recyclable PET bottles. With
these lightweight containers, you decide where your collection will be most
effective.
Constructed from roughly 150 recycled iPET bottles, PETE's Big Bins d.o
more than capture the recyclable bottles missed by conventional curbside
programs. They close the loop on recycling while helping to curb litter and
waste. Their noticeable design also increases the visibility of your local PET
recycling program or helps your organization make a public statement in
support of recycling.
