ADJOURNMENT Next meeting- August 16, 2001 will be televised _7:00) The mission The mission of the Waste Reduction and Recycling Advisory Commission is to proactively assist the Eagan City Council by educating, encouraging and assisting the community in reducing and managing waste in an environmentally sound manner. MEMO TO: MEMBERS OF THE EAGAN WASTE REDUCTION & RECYCLING ADVISORY COMMISSION FROM: COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR FOOTE DATE: JUNE 14, 2001 SUBJECT: EAGAN ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING OF JUNE 21, 2001 A regular meeting of the Eagan Waste Reduction & Recycling Commission will be held on Thursday June 21, 2001 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Eagan Municipal Center in the City Council Chambers. This meeting will be televised. There is no meeting scheduled in July. Please contact Joanna Foote at (651) 681 -4604 by Tuesday, June 19 to indicate if you cannot attend. I. ROLL CALL AND ADOPTION OF AGENDA (5:30 -5:32) The agenda, as presented or modified, requires adoption by the Commission. ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED ON THIS ITEM: approve, deny or modify agenda II. APPROVAL OF APRIL 19 AND MAY 17 MEETING MINUTES (5:32 -5:35) A copy of the minutes of the Waste Reduction Commission meeting of April 19, 2001 and May 17, 2001 are included as an attachment. ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED ON THIS ITEM: approve, deny or modify April 19, 2001minutes. ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED ON THIS ITEM: approve, deny or modify May 17, 2001 minutes. III. VISITORS TO BE HEARD IV. ORGANIZATIONAL BUSINESS A. Sign Oath of Office The newly appointed member will be asked to sign an oath of office form. ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED ON THIS ITEM: Sign and return oath. V. INFORMATIVE A. "Improving Recycling of Residential Paper" Grant (No Discussion Necessary) Over one -half of the surveys have been returned. A copy of the survey results is included as an attachment. A brochure has been sent out providing more information about the pilot project. Copies of the brochure will be available to view at li n PAPER RECYCLING SURVEY RESULTS... the next meeting. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Procurement /Green Building Discussion (5:45 -6:25) At the May meeting, the Commission briefly discussed what their role was in the design process and expressed an interest in receiving updated information. Ken Vraa and Beth Weilde have provided written updates regarding the Design/Development and construction process of the Community Center, for the Commission. The Commission may wish to further discuss their role and priorities in the design process. The memo from Beth Wielde is included as an attachment, copies of the Xcel Energy: Energy Assets Custom Consulting/Eagan Community Center report from Ken Vraa, dated May 15, 2001 will be available at the meeting. ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED ON THIS ITEM: Discussion and direction. B. Mural Wall and Reusable Mugs in Cascade Bay (6:25 -6:57) The Commission has expressed an interest in utilizing and promoting recycled- content products over the past year. Two possible projects to use recycled- content products exist in Cascade Bay. The Commission may wish to discuss the mural wall and reusable mug projects.
