The meeting was chaired by Barbara Schmidt. The third paragraph of the July minutes
was corrected to read "across Fish Lake if desired by Eagan-John Voss recommended
that Eagan acquire the park and trail dedication." The minutes were approved as a-
A report from the Council Meeting indicated that the Council had approved both the
:Chase of a seeder-packer and the hiring of one additional man to help with the
a.1fsading of the parks. The resignation of Jan Callenius from the Park Committea
vas accepted by the Council. The awarding of the bids for playground equipment for
Rahn Park has been completed and the equipment ordered.
The cash gift from Rosene and Assoc. will be used toward the purchase of climbing
equipment for Evergreen Park. The Jandire house has been given to the Police Dept.
for their use and a replacement will be built to park specifications.
John Voss announced that Eagan had received a $10,000 grant from the State for the
construction of bicycle trails. Eagan will share construction costs on a 35-65%
basis. John also reviowed further the present status of Eagan Park funds as well
as possible costs of future projects.
A discussion of the possible location of an athletic complex for the Northern part
of Eagan was discussed. Three possible locations were discussed and all three will
te investigated further. The status of negotiations and planning Timbertene Park
was discussed.
Gerber Hatteberg rep7~ ted on plans for a neighborhood sponsored celebration at.,Xex-
ington Para on Wednesday, August 14th. The celebration will include a parade, pot-
luck supper, contests and a dance.
Bob Rosene reported that the all-purpose court would be completed before the opening
celebration (.~f Lexington Park on Wednesday.
Myrel Lundsten gave a brief report on the park landscape inspection tour. Eldon has
written a letter to Metro Associates and Raze Nursery specifying those trees which
should be replaced. Greg Franzen presented a guide for developing and maintenance
,f turf in park area.
A brief report on the Summer Tumbling and Dance program was given. All bids for the.
program have been submitted.
A request was sent to the Park Committee asking that the asphalt trails in Woodhaven
Park be signed to allow only hiking and no bike riding. It was the consensus of the
Park Committee that consideration should be given to installing a caution sign at the
top of the trail.
Greg granzen will estimate all time spent for tree disease control.
Myrel .Lundsten moved and Dale Everson seconded a motion.that it be recommended that
John Voss°s bill be paid.
