Also Present: Arnold Carlson, Jim McGuffee, Greg Franzen
Barbara Schmidt chaired the meeting, Neil Coates moved and Fay Cooper
seconded a motion that the minutes be approved as mailed. Carolyn Thurston
reported on the last council meeting. Approved were the resolution concerning
park dedication, charging of fees for the tennis program, and obtaining bids for
a new truck and hoist as separate components.
John Voss's report on the Lexington South Park proposal was discussed. Jan
Callenius moved that the parks, trails and ponds proposed to be dedicated be
accepted in concept, with final details as to timing,of dedication and other
matters to be spelled out in the "Planned Development Agreement." Final approval
by the Park Committee will be after review of the written agreement. Neil Coates
seconded the motion, which was unanimous.
Mr. Arnold Carlson appeared, requesting permission to install tile through
.a 115-50 ft. portion of Thomas Lake Park to drain the small pond on the south
edge of Evergreen Park. The level of this pond is rising after installation of
drain tile from a low area on Evergreen Park. The Committee agreed with his
proposal and will request approval of the Council at the next meeting. Mr. Carlson
agreed to dish out a play area and will give us an estimate on grad°;r..g fcr a
ball diamond. He mentioned that our prosent layout has a metal stanchion and
2 poles within the radius of the ball diamond.
Discussion of Pemtom dedication proposal was held. Jan Callenius moved
that we accept the proposal with the following provisions: a sand base be
installed in the lot area, that all improvements be completed within one year
of final plat approval and that the layout be approved by the Park Committee.
Neil Coates seconded that motion,
Carolyn Thurston moved that the trail around Fish Lake proposed by Wohlers
a.nd Hagemei.ster be referred to John Voss for comment. Fay Cooper seconded.
Letter from Eldon Hugelen regarding pibor planting material was accepted and
a copy will be sent to each council member, Bob Rosene, and Greg Franzen.
A meeting to walk the proposed trails in Wilderness Run will be held
June 19 at 2:00 p.m.
Carolyn Thurston moved that the Park Maintenance Department be authori,7ed
to purchase tools acid tool box with padlock, for approximately $75-100. Roger
Martin seconded that motion. The maintenance department also requested
permission to purchase a small cement mixer for use in installing play equipment,
posts, e-tc. Park Committee member Neil Coates offered to donate a small gas
generated LLnit. Gerber Hatteberg moved that the maintenance departmenu be
authorized to purchase 2 small new or used lawn mowers, for approximately $50.
each. Neil Coates seconded the motion which was unanimous. Greg Franzen will
g-u-chase the items.

Greg reported that the old Rahn rink hockey boards have extensive dry rot,
and requested that we consider installing a new permanent rink rather than re--
pairing the existing. He will check with Dale Everson. Greg also requested that
he be paid mileage for the use of his cum car during the day 14ecause of a lack
of available vehicles. The Park Committee agreed and referred him to Bill Branch
regarding this matter. Jim McGuffee reviewed park maintenance work presently in
rogr6p ..ss.
A motion was presented by Gerber Hatteberg that the Park Committee go before
Vlne Cluncil to ask direction on the bidding of play equipment for Rahn Park. Jan
Calle.nius seconded that motion.
A letter from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Trail Section about
bicycle trails was reviewed. A meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 18, at
1:00 p.m. Barbara Schmidt and Greg Franzen will attend.
Greg Franzen reviewed tennis program beginning June 17. Registration
for Country Home Heights first session is full. Woodhaven registration has
ope'r ings at this time.
Greg also discussed possibliity of opening warming houses at 2-parks for
non--organized, drop in activities, each with 1 supervisor and 1 aide. Suggested
Highview and Carnelian Park from 1-4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday for 6
weeks. Program would begin July 15 and end August 22. A motion was made. y
Barbara Schmidt and seconded by Fay Cooper that.the Park Committee approve aoch
a program,-subject to final cost analysis.
Jan Callenius reported that the recreation.fac.ility survey indicated that
there-seems to be need sometime in the future for a lighted softball field.
,Need-for sod around Lexington Park infield.was discussed. Gerber Hatteberg
moved that necessary costs be paid from bond funds. That motion was seconded by
Fay Cooper.
Planning consultants bill was reviewed and Neil made a motion that portions
be paid of Bond funds. Gerber seconded that motion.
A motion to adjourn by Gerber Hatteberg was. seconded by Fay Cooper.
