Northern Dakota County Chambers of Commerce had its annual holiday celebration and
presentation of the Dakota Award. The honor is bestowed each year on an individual who
has contributed to the betterment of the quality of life in Dakota County by personal efforts_
not related to his or her profession.
This year's recipient was Marie Jenson, Jensen Associates of Rosemount.
Marie is the first woman to receive the honor. She served on the first Dakota County
Health Board, is a past member of the first Dakota County Library Board and is a member
of the University of Minnesota-Rosemount Advisory Board.
Marie has been a member of the Rosemount Chamber of Commerce since 1970. She
was active in the planning and construction of St. Joseph's School and was chairwoman of
the Rosemount City Beautification in 1983 and 1984.
HONORED-Marie Jensen, right, took top honors as a valuable and contributing
citizen. Jensen graciously accepted the Dakota Award, presented annually by the
Northern Dakota County Chambers of Commerce. Larry Wenzel, of Wenzel Mechani-
cal; Tom Hedges, Eagan city administrator and Roger Lee of People's Natural Gas
were in attendance. Tim Dolan, assistant vice president, First National Bank of West
St. Paul, and Sam Shepard, Crawford Door, West St. Paul, enjoyed one another and
for Marlene Oberste, formerly of Signal Hills, it was old home week as she chatted
with Todd Walker of Signal Bank.
