Joe Harrison `reported on a conversation with ?fro Hauge concerning
incorporating rest areas in Eagandale Center into the Township Park System.
Paul Uselmsr, suggested the Park Committee suit its suggestions for
new and/or revised ordinances to Paul Ha,uge for legal wording so that they
can be reco!~-,endee to the Town Board as early as possible. Mr. Uselmsn also
mentioned a "v tershed" meeting ~'epterrber 9th, and suggested the Park Committee
send someone to lister- in. He also asked if we had an alternate to our request
for a parr strip around ElackbAwk Lake, and suggested we discuss the status
of that particular problem.. Later in the meeting the committee agreed its
position has not changed,
Mr. Olsen reported that the Municipal Bond Yerket is DEAD for the
preseht at leg_st.0 because of the state law restricting the amount of interest
paid and because of the uncertainty of the Tax-Exempt status of such bonds.
Mr. Olsen gauge is many pointers on the way in which to proceed with a bond
issue if ard arhen its presented to the voters.
The C'o m ittee discur-sed the impm vement of Township Ordinances which
would create and im rove F-agen's recreation opportunities for its residents
)present and future) through the acquisition of park lands. Recommendations
included'r
.,that 10% of all land zoned and proposed as '15-4 (T., ltiple dwelling)
land be donated to the Township as dedicated. land for park purposes,
e,rio ercial land that we would reouire an amount of land equal to
10% of the assessed valuation of the land area.
,.Industrial lend that rest areas up to 5% of the total acreage
of the development be donated to the Township as dedicated land for park
prapose3s, plus monies up to an amount equal to 109 ^f the assessed valuation
of the remainder of the total acreage of the development be contributed to the
Park Fund of the Township for the acquisition of future park and recreation land.
This proposed ordinance updating and other changes will be discussed
and refined further by a sub-committee to meet later this month.
