The "nett" Lone Oak was transpl rnted in May, 1983, to replace the original 200 - year -old Lone C ak Tree, which was ren oved from the in- tersecti >n of Highway 55 and Lot e Oak Road April 9 of his year. The dedica ion ceremony, which Alas emceed by Eagan :ouncilman Ted Wachte r, featured re- marks 1 y Rev. Don Wilke of Trii Illy Lone Oak Churc t, Assistant Mn /DC T Commissioner Larry 11cNamara, Dist- rict E igineer Kermit McRae and Mayor Bea Blomquist. Children from 1 rinity Lone Oak School also sang a selec- tion. B asides the dedica- tion, a plaque honoring the Lo re Oak Tree was unveil ad and Mayor Blomq rist was also pre- sented with a colored photograph of the origina l Lone Oak Tree to hang in city hall. In the trop photo, Rev. Wilke :aid a prayer over the "new" Lone Oak Tree, while students from the school looked on. In the middle photo, Mayor Blomquist, center, read the plaque flanked by McNamara, left, and Wachter. In the bottom right photo, Lone Oak students took their turn at the plaque, while in the bottom left photo, Blomquist and McNamarar are seen with the colored picture of the original Lone Oak Tree.
