A VR 4/2006 Printed in USA Positive Alarm Indication of any Liquid in Underground Fuel Storage Tank Piping Sumps The Veeder-Root Piping Sump Sensor detects the presence of liquid in a UST piping sump. Liquid presence could mean a dangerous line leak. When the sensor detects liquid, it sends an alarm signal to the TLS console monitor, where both visual and audible built-in alarm indicators immedi- ately identify the location of the problem. You can then quickly take action to help prevent serious safety and environmental problems. For even greater warning capability, the TLS -350R, TLS -350, ILS -350, TLS -300i, TLS -250i and ILS -250 feature intemal alarm relays that can also trigger on-site alarms. With the TLS -350R, TLS -350 and TLS -300i, alarm signals from the sump sensor trigger a leak report showing the time and location of the alarm condition. The information is stored in the system's Alarm History and can be printed on the monitor's integral printer, or retrieval remotely through its data communications interface. The Veeder-Root Piping Sump Sensor can be used in the piping sumps of either steel or fiberglass tanks. Each sensor comes with complete hardware for mounting on existing conduit or piping. The Veeder-Root Interstitial Sensor for fiberglass tanks can be used in the annulus of the fiberglass tank with a riser pipe of 4". Only two wires are required to connect the sensor to a TLS or ILS system. • Positive alarm indication of any liquid in double-wall fiberglass tanks • System indicators pinpoint alarm location • Fast action helps prevent serious safety and environmental problems. Features The presence of any liquid in the tank's interstitial space triggers a Fuel Alarm. They need to submit a Site Plan. The permit drawings have complete Civil drawings as well as an architectural site plan AS100. The sheets in the set are in the following order as identified in the Index Sheet TS101-Civil, Landscaping, Structural, Architectural. • I did not see the parking canopy structures in this set — will there be a separate building permit for them? On sheet AS100 we have included the section thru the canopy structures for informational purposes. There is also a note that states we are working on the overall design of the canopy structures and would like to have them reviewed as a separate permit. We are exploring the option of a pre -fabricated canopy structure as well with the intent of maintaining all aesthetics previously conveyed. • The Final PD Agreement for this site is yet to be executed and recorded. Is there anything we need to do? • The Final Landscape Plan is still being discussed for the Final PD Agreement, and may need to be amended for the building permit set. What can we do to assist in this review and approval? • The Final Plat has been released by the City for recording. • Park Dedication is due, based on building size, $869 per 1,000 s.f. of building. Will this fee be a condition of the Building Permit release or should we pay now? • Landscape Deposit is due of $7,500 Will this be a condition of the Building Permit release? I know that Interstate Partners will provide fees as required to keep the review process moving. Please share this info with the architect/contractor/applicant. Special Inspection and Testing Procedures The special inspection services were periodically provided by International Code Council (ICC) certified special inspectors in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota State Building Code, Chapter 17 of the International Building Code (IBC) and the project plans and specifications. The purpose of special inspections is to provide a review of the contractor's work designated by the project structural engineer as needing special inspection under the guidelines of the IBC to determine compliance with the approved construction documents. The special inspector does not have the responsibility or authority to, nor is it the intent of special inspections to have them, judge or modify the construction documents. Only the structural engineer of record can do this. As the special inspections were completed, a Special Inspection Daily Report was prepared to summarize the results of our inspections and testing. A copy of this report was provided to the contractor's site representative for their review and records. As part of this report, items needing correction or discrepancies observed from the approved construction documents were noted. We also summarized the discrepancies documented in a Discrepancy Log. As needed, we also contacted the project structural engineer for additional clarification on specific issues related to the drawings or discrepancies observed. Plans and Specifications The plans and project documents available at the site were used for our inspections. From time to time, we received plan modifications from the structural engineer. When received, these were used to evaluate the work completed in the field. AA/EOE Providing engineering and environmental solutions since 1957 R.J. Ryan Construction, Inc. Project BL -12-04577 March 11, 2013 Page 2 Summary of Special Inspections and Material Observations and Tests Visual Examination of the Field -Made Welds Visual examination of the field welds was conducted in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1-2010, Figure 5.4 and Table 6.1 requirements and the requirements of the project plans and specifications. Ultrasonic Examinations Ultrasonic examinations of the partial and full -penetration -welded connections 5/16 inch or greater were conducted in general accordance with the AWS 01.1- 2010, Section 6, Table 6.2 static loaded criteria and the requirements of the project plans and specifications. Magnetic Particle Examination Magnetic particle examinations of the welded connections were conducted in general accordance with the AWS D1.1-2010, Table 6.1 requirements and requirements of the project plans and specifications. Tension -Control Bolted Connection Observations Tension -control bolted connection observations were conducted to determine if the bolt holes were filled, if the correct bolts were used, if the nuts were fully engaged and if the splined end of the tension - control bolts had separated from the body of the bolt. Removal of the splined end is a direct indicator the bolt has been torqued to the minimum snap -off load. At connections where the splined ends were not, or could not be removed, the torque applied to the bolt by the contractor was determined using a hand-held torque wrench. In addition, each connection was observed for fit -up and to determine if the various plies were in contact with one another. Metal Deck Weld and Fastener Observations Metal deck weld observations were conducted in general accordance with AWS D1.3-1998, Section 6.0 requirements and the requirements of the project plans and specifications. Items reviewed included the quality, size and spacing of the welds. In addition, the location and the completeness of the side -lap fastener installation were observed and evaluated. Column Anchor Bolt Observations The column anchor bolts were observed to determine if they were in place, and if the nuts were installed, fully engaged and snug tight. The base plates were observed to determine if they were in full contact with the adjoining surface. If required by the construction documents, we also observed if the plate washers were installed.
