Historic Holz Farm and Friends of the Farm
4665 Manor Drive, Eagan, MN 55123
Take a nostalgic walk into the past at Holz Farm, a 1940’s era family farm acquired by the
City of Eagan in 1995 to actively preserve the rich farming history of the area. The farm is
located in the southeast corner of Eagan, alongside Holz Lake. Currently, the eight acres
owned by the City are used for educational, historical and entertainment activities. In 1996,
efforts began to preserve and protect the house, barn and outbuildings that are examples
of the 1940’s era. A Master Plan for the site was completed in 2003. As of June 2007, the
farmstead has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Old Fashioned Holiday at the Farm
Sunday, Dec. 2
Noon – 3:30 p.m.
Bring the family together and enjoy the Christmas holiday sea-
son 1940’s style with an Old Fashioned Holiday Celebration.
Remember a simpler time of singing Christmas carols by the
fire, making smores, the smell of cookies baking, hot cider
and spending time together making ornaments for the tree.
Bundle up with warm winter gear and enjoy a winter hayride
and outdoor activities. Kids are invited to write a letter to
Santa at home and bring it to the celebration as Santa and his
live reindeer will be available to visit and for photos. Don’t
forget your camera. Holz Farm is located at 4665 Manor
Drive, Eagan, MN 55123.

Recommended Attire
We strongly suggest snowpants, helmets
and gloves/mittens, especially for skaters

newer skaters start in figure skates. The

to balance quicker. Skate & helmet rental
is available at the Civic Arena.

Welcome to Preschool
The Eagan Parks & Recreation Department welcomes you and your preschooler
to a wide selection of quality preschool programs. Eagan Preschool Program’s
focus is on the social development of children ages one through five years old.
Participants will benefit by developing their social skills through play, art projects,
stories, songs, games, and outside play. Participants also have the opportunity to
develop their independence, self-help and sharing skills and learn to follow direc-
tions. Teachers are experienced instructors committed to offering your preschool-
er a positive experience and providing support for your child’s first school years.
The program has been serving the community since 1978 and continues to provide
quality programs to the community and over 30 years of experience opportunities
for all participants. Each year new classes and sessions begin in January, March,
June and September.
Eagan Parks & Recreation uses the following guide lines to
define who is a preschooler for participation in our programs:
• Children who are the appropriate age on or before the first day of class.
• Children who are completely toilet trained and independent in the bathroom.
Children are required to wear underwear; pull-up type diapers are not allowed.
Toilet training is not required for children registered in parent/child classes.
• Bright Beginnings and Let’s Play! Music Together classes are for children
who are the age stated in the class description and accompanied by an adult.
Additional siblings are welcome, when age appropriate and additional fees
paid as listed in the program description.
• Just for 5’s (and some 4’s, too!) class is for children who are the appropriate
age to enter kindergarten in the fall of 2013.
Please note:
Due to the popularity of our preschool program, classes tend to fill up quickly.
Wait lists will be maintained in a manner that accommodates participants new to
the program.
Participants enrolled in more than one preschool class per session may experience
programming duplication between classes.

Tiny Tots
Ages 3-5
In our traditional preschool class, Tiny Tots class participants will
experience the benefits of multi-age groupings. At our preschool,
children participate in a theme based curriculum that incorporates
daily calendar and weather time, singing songs, creating art proj-
ects, listening to stories, and large and small group activities. Your
preschooler will also enjoy free-play time, meet and play with friends, eat a snack, and
participate in show and tell time. Children will play actively outside every day, so bring
weather appropriate outdoor gear. Lunch Bunch extended class days will be offered

Music Together for Babies!
Infants 0-8 months old with an adult
Let’s Play! Music Together is pleased to offer you the opportu-
nity to connect with other new parents and take the earliest steps
for your infant’s musical development!
Because the early months are so important, Music Together® offers two options for
babies. Babies with their parent or caregiver can take the special “Babies Class” offered
as a one-semester introduction to Music Together. (This class cannot be repeated.) Every
child’s development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. The music
activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as
possible about music development in babies. Meet other parents of newborns and learn
some fun, fascinating music activities you can recreate at home. Or, babies eight months
and younger at the time of registration may attend a Mixed Ages Class (see page 17),
whether registered on their own or attending free with an older brother or sister.
Babies Class includes a 10-week session of 45 minute classes, 2 CD’s, songbook and
suggestions for musical activities at home. For more information on Let’s Play! Music
Together, visit www.LPmusictogether.com. Let’s Play! Music Together is licensed by

Adapted or also known as therapeutic recreation are specialized recreation programs that
enhance the quality of life and productivity by building social skills, self-esteem and inde-
pendence for youth with disabilities. Programs are led by recreation staff with a history of
working with youth who have disabilities.
Prior to the start of programs, if you are a new participant, a supervisor will contact the par-
ent/guardian by telephone and conduct an intake assessment to identify the participant’s
abilities, needs, interests and goal for the program. At this time, any accommodations, and/
or adaptations if necessary will be discussed. All adapted classes have a minimum number
required for the classes to be held so register early.
Adapted Recreation programs are open to any child ages 6 - 13 years old who has develop-
mental and/or physical disabilities. The co-ed programs focus on 5-6 week sports develop-
ment sessions through sports such as Bowling, T-ball/Softball, Soccer, Basketball, Floor
Hockey, Yoga and other activities in a non-competitive environment. Through skill develop-
ment participants practice small and large motor skills, socialize with other youth and learn
the skills and rules of the game. Periodically, one day sessions on a variety of topics may
be offered such as fishing, hiking, or crafts. For most programs, parents/guardians or PCA’s
may participate in the program along side their child which are lead by recreation staff and
assisted by volunteers.
Please call Parks & Recreation at (651) 675-5500 for more information about Eagan’s adapt-
ed programs.
Adapted Recreation - Basketball
For children with developmental and/or physical disabilities
Ages 6-13
Dribble, pass, shoot, score! Basketball can be a lot of fun and provide a social opportunity
to interact with other youth in a safe, controlled environment where the emphasis is on
Basketball skill development, not competition. Youth with disabilities will work on large
motor skills and learn how to play basketball through skill developing games and drills.
Trained staff and volunteers work to encourage your kids in a safe environment during the
time together. All participants receive a participation certificate during the last session.
Many students in the program have autism as well as other developmental and physical
disabilities. Accommodations in drills and during game play are made to meet the needs of
each student.

Due to facility space and staff limitations,

classes have reached their maximum regis-
tration, a wait list will be started.
You will remain on the wait list until the

able due to a cancellation, it will be offered

Programs may be cancelled by Eagan

ficient to provide an appropriate program
experience. Once a program is cancelled,
every attempt will be made to give at
least 48 hours notice to participants. If it
is a Monday program, notification will be
made no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Equal Access Policy
The City of Eagan is committed to providing
equal access to its programs, facilities and
employment without regard to race, creed,
color, sex, national origin or disability.
Auxiliary aids for persons with disabilities
wishing to attend or participate in the City
of Eagan recreation programs are available
upon request at least 96 hours in advance
of the event. If a notice of less than 96
hours is received, the City will make every
attempt to provide reasonable accommo-
dations.
Photo/Video Release
City use of Images
It is recommended that a release be
obtained when photographing or videotap-
ing a minor (under 18). Parent or guard-
ian signatures are required; signatures of
minors are not sufficient. When images
are published, the City will take cautionary
steps to provide minimum identifying infor-
mation and will not use a specific street or
mailing address, e-mail addresses or phone
numbers. While signed release forms are
generally not needed when photographing
in public places, such as parks, this extra
step is being taken because the images
taken are intended for use in City publica-
tions and communications.
Data Privacy Act
In accordance with the Minnesota
Government Data Practices Act, the Parks
& Recreation Department hereby informs
you that the personal information we are
requesting of you and/or your child or
guardian on our registration form is now
considered private. Private data is avail-
able to you and to City staff who need
to have this information to perform their
duties, but not to the public. While you may
choose to withhold this data, the conse-
quences could be that the City’s staff may
not be able to complete your registration
and/or the participant may not receive
updated program information, such as
schedule changes.
Eagan Parks & Recreation periodically takes
pictures of participants in our classes, during
special events and in the parks. Please be
aware that these photos may be used in the
City’s brochures, pamphlets, or cable pre-
sentations. If you or your family members
do not want to be photographed or pub-
lished you must give us written notice.
Minnesota Concussion Law
A new law regarding concussions went into
effect on Sept. 1, 2011. This new law sets into
place policies and new standards for educat-
ing youth athletes of head concussions. It is
aimed at preventing and identifying concus-
sions in youths participating in sports. The
law applies to city sponsored youth athlet-
ics, youth athletic association programs and
regular school sports programs. A youth is
considered through age 18. Eagan Parks &
Recreation is complying with this new law.
