• State unallotted $ .4 million MVHC in bec
2008, and $ .9 million in 2009
• Other revenues down due to economy
• Council responded:
— In June, the 2009 budget reduced by $ .6 million
— 9.2 FTE positions eliminated
— Monitor monthly results; make additional cuts, if
necessary,to finish year with positive balance

Implications for 2010 Budget
• Reset base to be sustainable long-term
• Continue reductions made in 2009:
— 9.2 FTEs stay eliminated
— No new positions; no new programs
• 0% wage increase for non-union staff
(unions under contract through 2010)
• Eliminate reliance on State aid going
forward
