ADJOURNMENT MEMO _city of eagan TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCILMEMBERS FROM: CITY ADMINISTRATOR HEDGES DATE: OCTOBER 13, 1995 SUBJECT: SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING/TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1995 A Special City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 1995 at 5:00 p.m. at Black Hawk Middle School to discuss the following items: • Update on Livable Communities Act • Business Reach-out Meetings • Update/Promenade Project • Option Agreement/Northwestem Mutual LIVABLE COMMUNITIES ACT The Dakota County Managers Group has held several meetings, along with representatives of the Dakota County HRA, to discuss a strategy regarding the Livable Communities Act. The City Administrator and Director of Community Development will share comments and insight regarding the Livable Communities Act so staff can be given direction to continue work on a reasonable set of goals. BUSINESS REACH-OUT MEETINGS The City Administrator included in an recent Informative Memo that community update meetings, in collaboration with the Dakota Chamber of Commerce, were planned for October 23 and 30, beginning at 4:00 p.m. and November 16 at 7:30 a.m. and again*at 4:00 p.m. on November 20. The City Administrator will provide further insight regarding these business reach-out meetings at a later date. UPDATE/PROMENADE PROJECT • Staff, under the direction of the Community Development Director, has held several work sessions with representatives of Opus regarding the Promenade Project. A great deal of work has taken place since the Council provided the concept approval for the • developer and staff to proceed ahead with the project several weeks ago. This item is included to provide some update by staff and input by the Council. OPTION AGREEMENT/NORTHWESTERN LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY The City Administrator will provide an update on the status of further discussions with Northwestern Mutual regarding acquisition of 200 acres for public purpose. OTHER BUSINESS The City Administrator will share a City Council "tentative"work session schedule for the remainder of 1995. /S/ Thomas L. Hedges City Administrator
