2014 Fall Discover Brochure
Registration opens August 4
Eagan Parks & Recreation is dedicated to providing a wide range of recreational
opportunities to meet the diverse interests of its residents. In addition, the safety and
maintenance of each park’s infrastructure and amenities remains a high priority. Under the guid-
ance of the City Council, Advisory Parks Commission and dedicated staff, Eagan’s park system
has become a benchmark for excellence for other communities.
The Discover Brochure is an official City publication that is distributed four times a year as a pub-
lic service by the Eagan City Council and is prepared under the direction of the Director of Parks
& Recreation. It is mailed to Eagan residents. If you are a non-resident and wish to receive this,
please call Eagan Parks & Recreation at (651) 675-5500.
Discover…Experience…Grow...I encourage you to take time to explore a park or trail near you
this fall. Take a walk by the Art House in Patrick Eagan Park to see two new sculptures the
bright orange “Metamorphosis” and a shadow-making oak leaf, “Sentience”. The sculptures
invite you to take time to discover art and discover the natural park beauty.

Michael Harding Handmade
Oil Paint Presentation
A rare treat for oil painters! UK artist/

Michael Harding Handmade Artist
Oil Colours, Michael Harding, will be
in town and will give a lecture/demo
in Eagan. Michael will discuss how
oil paints are made, the content and
working properties of his handmade
oil paint and demonstrate why true,
vibrant and durable colors matter in
your painting and why they can be
more economical in the long run. His
handmade paints are made using
techniques which date back to the
days of the Old Masters.
About Michael Harding:
UK artists and painter, Michael
Harding started making hand made
oil paints in the early 1980’s. He was
inspired by Rembrandt’s Paintings

supplying the Royal College of Art
and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Word spread and demand grew.

The 9th annual Harvest
of Art Celebration is a
great way to wrap up
the Summer and get a
creative start to Fall. Try your hand at glazing a raku pot, view the
beautiful artwork of more than 40 local artists, listen to the Jazz
Duo of “Windwood” and enjoy a frozen treat from Ring Mountain
Creamery. You can also shop the pottery table for handmade gifts
or items for your home. Consider registering for a Fall art class.
You’ll receive a 15% discount on classes when you register during the
event. Harvest of Art will take place on the beautiful Eagan Art House
grounds. All ages welcome. Plenty of free parking.
This popular event is made possible by the voters of Minnesota
through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks
to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
For more information, go to www.eaganarthouse.org.
