I am reviewing the zoning permit application for replacement of a retaining wall at 4134 Lantern Lane in Eagan.
The plans note the boulder wall is 44" at its highest point. How is that height measured? If the measure is from grade,
then we need to know the measure from the bottom of the wall, including the level below grade. If that measure is
more than 4',then a Building Permit is needed instead of a Zoning Permit,and engineered drawings for the construction
of the boulder wall need to accompany the Building Permit application.

Dear Zonning Deparhnent,
Attached is the completed Zoning Permit Application and Site Plan for Plash residence at 4134 Lantern Lane,Eagan,MN.
The project is to replace 891inear feet of existing timber retaining wall with a boulder wall. The existing height of the wall is
44"at it's highest point to 22"at the lowest point. The boulder wall will be placed in the same location as the existing wall.
Sawn boulder steps will be added through the left side of the wall for access. A 137 square foot patio will be added above the
wall on the left side. 30"boulders will be added behind the patio for seating.
We are also working on proposing adding on to the existing deck for a hot tub for this homeowner,and although the
information is on this site plan,we know it will need a building permit and it is�part of this permit request.
We are hoping to start this project in the next 10 days and will be awaiting your approval,please call if you have any
questions or concerns.
