Mr. Meinhardt,
I am following up on your inquiry about a possible appeal to the setback standards for your proposed shed. Such an
appeal would be a Variance request, which requires a public hearing and the City Council then decides whether or not to
approve the Variance. The application fee for a residential Variance is$400 plus a $300 escrow deposit, and the process
takes about 30 days.
The cost for a Variance seems relatively high for a <100 s.f. shed. Also, because there is so much yard space where the
shed can be placed, it would be difficult to justify a Variance from the City Code standards, and we wouldn't want you to
spend the time and money on a Variance request that is unlikely to be approved. Thus, relocating the shed appeared to

be a better option. Nonetheless, if you wish to pursue the Variance rather than find an alternate location for the shed, I
can provide you with the Variance application materials.
