It was ' not until 1892 thFt th`. first Town Hall was built, 1t was first used as the polling place for the presidential election of that year. It was located on land owned by Michael Shields -:)n the southeast side of the int.:rsection of Lone Oak and Pilot K%.,-1 Roads. Meanwh.Lle, the original building was destroyed by fire 4 At a spacial meeting on May 2, 1914, the Town Board decided to plac,z ',-.he new Town Hall as close as possible to the exact center of the township. A parcel of about one-third acre abutting Pilot Knob I;ad in the northeast corner of Section 21 was purchased from Michael Englert, Jr. A 26' x 40' frame structure was built by A.J. Ward of Rosemount for $1,047. The new Wing was completed on June 16, 1914, and served as the meeting !I- and polling place for the township for the next several decades. It was heated by a pot- bellied stove and had ten rows of seats made from unpainted 2 x 12 planks and two file cabinets.
