Eagan Parks & Recreation
Director’s Message
Summer is a busy time for many individuals and families in Eagan because of how precious the
time is to be outside. Children are out of school, cabins are open, the grass is green, weekends are
full of tournaments, and people are enjoying great food at different events. The same can be said
for our Eagan Parks & Recreation team. We are getting ready for your children as they participate
in our summer camps, which include Dodgeball Camp, Camp Creative and Safety Camp.
Parks & Recreation may not have a cabin but we do have fantastic facilities with plenty of
recreational opportunities: Cascade Bay (opens June 4), Eagan Art House, Eagan Community
Center, Eagan Civic Arena or one of our scenic pavilions. The Parks and Forestry team is also
working hard every day to ensure that our 56 parks also have green grass and great amenities to
enjoy when you visit.
Make sure you find time this summer to attend the Wednesday Market Fest nights at the Eagan
Festival Grounds from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. (3:00 - 7:00 p.m., September 7 - 28) for great food, music
and fun. This summer is the 10th Anniversary of this popular event; featuring theme nights, great
live music and a large array of vendors selling vegetables, fruits and other local products.
Eagan Parks & Recreation would like to warmly welcome you to one of our destinations.
We value and appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to contact me at (651) 675-5505 or
jflewellen@cityofeagan.com to share your feedback.

Welcome to Preschool
The City of Eagan Parks & Recreation
Department welcomes you and your
preschooler to a wide selection of
quality preschool programs. Eagan
Parks & Recreation preschool
program’s focus is on the social
development of children ages two
through five years old. Participants
will benefit by developing their social
skills through play, art, projects,
stories, songs, games, and outside play.
Participants will also have the opportunity to develop their independence, self-help
and sharing skills and learn to follow directions.
Teachers are experienced instructors
committed to offering your preschooler
a positive experience and providing
support for your child’s first school
years. The program has been serving
the community since 1978 and continues
to provide quality programs and new
opportunities for all participants. Each
year new classes begin in January, March,
June and September.
Eagan Parks & Recreation uses the following guide lines to define who is a
preschooler for participation in our programs:
• Children who are the appropriate age on or before the first day of class.
• Children who are completely toilet trained and independent in the bathroom.
• Children are required to wear underwear; pull-up type diapers are not allowed.
• Toilet training is not required for children registered in parent/child classes.
• Bright Beginnings and Let’s Play! Music Together classes are for children who
are the age stated in the class and accompanied by an adult. Additional siblings
are welcome, when age appropriate and additional fees paid as listed in the
program.
• Just for 5’s (and some 4’s, too!) class is for children who are the appropriate age
to enter kindergarten in the Fall of 2017.
Please note:
Due to the popularity of our preschool program, classes tend to fill up quickly. Wait
lists will be maintained in a manner that accommodates participants new to the
program.
Participants enrolled in more than
one preschool class per session
may experience programming
duplication between classes.

QuickStart Beginner Tennis Lessons
Ages 4-10
Hey kids! There is no better time to start playing tennis than now! QuickStart tennis
is a format for learning the game of tennis. The goal of the QuickStart Beginner
Lessons is to introduce the game of tennis to children in a fun and engaging way.
USTA (United States Tennis Association) created the QuickStart format to cater
directly to younger beginning tennis players. To make it easier for the youngsters
to learn, the QuickStart tennis format changed the net size, the court size, the balls,
the rackets and even the scoring system to make it easier for younger players. The
program is designed to help children succeed but also focuses on having fun through
games, relays and instruction.
Participants are asked to wear tennis shoes, bring their racket and a water bottle. A
limited number of rackets will be available for those without one.

QuickStart Intermediate 1 & 2 Tennis Lessons
Ages 7-10
Hey kids! Looking for a chance to learn more about tennis? The goal
of the QuickStart Intermediate Lessons is for kids ages 7-10 to gain more knowledge
and experience playing tennis. These lessons are recommended for kids who have
taken tennis lessons before and who are ready to start learning about how to rally
back and forth with a partner. Intermediate 1 will learn more about forehands and
backhands, how to serve and how to volley correctly while also working on rally
skills. Intermediate 2 will learn more about controlling the ball, playing and scoring
a match, and different playing strategies.
USTA (United States Tennis Association) created the QuickStart format to cater
directly to younger beginning tennis players. To make it easier for the youngsters
to learn, the QuickStart tennis format changed the net size, the court size, the

taught. Participants should wear appropriate

Summer Camps
Camps For All Ages
Welcome to our camps section! We have a wide variety of camps available for ages 3-15. All campers need to be the appropriate age
on or before the first date of the camp. See camp description for more specific information on the additional components of camp
class time. A letter will be emailed to campers registered by the deadline with detailed information.
Preschool camps for children 3-5 years old will incorporate many various camp elements. Participants must be toilet trained and
able to use the bathroom independently. Children are required to wear underwear, pull up type diapers are not allowed. Each camp
day learn about our weekly theme through singing songs and listening to a story, enjoy free-play time, work on art projects, play
with friends, and eat a snack. The class time will follow a traditional preschool class schedule (where age appropriate).
