LAWFUL GAMBLING COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Lawful Gambling Committee of the Eagan City Council met on
Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at 4:30 p.m. in Conference Room 2A at the Eagan Municipal
Center. In attendance were Councilmembers Carlson and Fields, City Administrator
Tom Hedges, City Attorney Mike Dougherty, Director of Administrative Services Gene
VanOverbeke and Mira McGarvey, Administrative Secretary/Deputy Clerk.
Discussion was held regarding an amendment to the City Code, Chapter Six
entitled "Other Business Regulation and Licensing". City Attorney Mike Dougherty
reviewed a draft ordinance amendment that would address the distribution of proceeds
from lawful gambling (pulltabs). It was agreed that organizations conducting lawful
gambling would be required to expend 60% of expenditures derived from lawful
gambling within the City of Eagan or the City of Eagan's trade area. Staff was directed
to notify all current permit holders of the ordinance amendment.
The meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
