II. RACK CARD DISCUSSION
FACTS:
• Staff has researched the possibility of placing advertising cards in various hotels in the surrounding
area to advertise Cascade Bay, Community Center and Civic Arena offerings.
• The City of Eagan can enter into a 6 month rental agreement with the exclusive distributor of the card
racks placed in specifically identified hotels. The cost for the 6 -month period is $275/month or
$1,650. The 6 month period seems to be an appropriate time to test the effectiveness of this
advertising.
• This agreement would allow the distributor to place facility designed cards in 40 hotels in Eagan and
Bloomington. (8 in Eagan; 32 in Bloomington). The range of distribution can increase, however the
cost would increase as well.
• In addition to cost for the monthly rent, the City of Eagan would be required to design and print 6,000
cards to cover the 6 -month period.
• The cost for design and production of the cards is estimated at approximately $850.
• The cost breakdown for 6 months is as follows:
o Rental $1650
o Design/production 850
$2500
• The cards would be designed to capture seasonal activities and events and offer visitors both indoor
and outdoor opportunities at Eagan's facilities.
