We do plan to upgrade to the horizontal lap siding which is more expensive, and we will paint it the same gray color as the house. I would have preferred the barn-style roof like my neighbor behind us (because of the extra loft storage),but we will comply with the requirement for a pitched roof. The roofing itself would be a darker gray metal roofing to closely resemble the house roof color. I hope that sounds acceptable. Please let me know the status after reviewing my answers here. Since the shed is over 120 sq ft, I will need some additional information regarding exterior materials. Sheds over 120 sq ft need to have finish materials similar and compatible with the main house and match in color. It also needs to match the roof style of the main house. In your case we would allow horizontal vinyl or similar horizontally applied siding in light grey. Also the shed must be the pitched roof style, not barn style. Alternatively,you could reduce the size to 10 x 12 (120 sq ft)where there would be more flexibility in the style and color of the shed. Let me know how you would like to proceed.
