DECEMBER 3, 2001
A meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Monday, December 3, 2001
at 3:30 p.m. Those present were Ted Wachter, Daniel Kahnke, Rebecca Snyder, Alice
Bolke, Paul Hauge, Gin Knight, Mary Ellen Vorachek, Sandra Masin and David
Schreier,.
MINUTES
Bolke made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 6, 2001 meeting;
Wachter seconded. All members voted in favor.
UPDATE REGARDING REBECCA SNYDER
Rebecca Snyder, Research Librarian of the Dakota County Historical Society, has
been working with the members and gave an update on the progress of the filing system
for the Eagan Historical Society.
Knight made a motion to buy a 4-drawer legal size lateral filing cabinet, legal
hanging file folders and legal 3-cut manila file folders; Bolke seconded the motion. All
members voted in favor.
REPORT REGARDING DAKOTA CITY
Sandra Masin spoke on a Project Report, which was conducted for the Dakota
County Historical Society and Dakota City Heritage Village. She briefly showed a
Chautauqua skit on video tape.
INFORMATION REGARDING DODD ROAD AND CITY TRAILS
RECOGNITION
Masin spoke on historic Dodd Road and the recognition of millennium trails. She
stated 2003 will be the 150th anniversary of Dodd Road. Foote stated the City Council
will recognize Alane Roundtree for her work on receiving Millennium Trail designation
for Dodd Road, and Matthew Brown for his work on the Eagan Historical Trail at the
December 11, 2001 City Council meeting.
Blomquist made a motion to further pursue the celebration of the 150th
anniversary of Dodd Road with the Dakota County Historical Society on behalf of the
Eagan Historical Society; Wachter seconded. All members voted in favor.
Historical Committee

David Schreier, Twentieth Century History Book Committee member, stated in
1999, as a part of the Dakota County Sesquicentennial, the County Commissioners have
been working towards publishing a modern 352-page coffee table style history book of
Dakota County. He further stated he would appreciate the Eagan Historical Society’s
assistance in gathering pictures/images of Eagan from 1900-2000 to be included in the
County’s forthcoming history book, which they would like to wrap up in July. The group
agreed to work toward identifying Eagan photographs for this purpose. Chair Wade
agreed to work with Mr. Schreier on this project.
NEXT MEETING DATE
Wachter made a motion to bring agenda items to staff whenever possible so they
may be included on the formal agenda prior to each meeting; Hauge seconded the
motion.
The next meeting of the Historical Society will be Monday, January 7, 2001. It
was decided to skip Monday, December 24 and Monday, December 31 for historical
filing.
ADJOURNMENT
Upon motion by Voracek, seconded by Hauge, the Historical Society Meeting
was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
