SOCIETY VS. COMMISSION STATUS
Members reviewed a memo that was prepared for the City Administrator and City
Council regarding the Society becoming a Commission. There were concerns about
retaining current members and also about how the Commission members would be
appointed. There was discussion among members regarding the voting ability of
appointed Commission members and not appointed members, and further discussion as to
grandfathering or continuing current members into the Commission, which would
comprise of a Commission of approximately 13 members.
Wachter stated his position is to move the society into a Commission and further
stated positive reasons for his position. Wachter suggested the City Administrator take a
final look at the presentation before it being submitted to the City Council.
