TOM GARRISON
Tom Garrison, Director of Communications for the City discussed ideas for the Historical
Society. One of the ideas was for the Committee to come up with suggestions/ideas as to naming
the site of the newly acquired North Fields. He stated a suggestion could be someone involved in
the parks system or who lives/lived near the site.
The Committee discussed Henry and Frank Heuer who owned the North Park property. It
was said that during threshing time, they showed feats of strength. A suggestion was made to
further discuss the idea of naming the property “Thresher’s Park.”
OPEN HOUSE
Bolke read a letter from City Administrator Tom Hedges congratulating the Historical
Society on a successful open house.
VIDEO IN VAN
Raquel Good, the City’s new Television Production Specialist has viewed the video of Ray
Wade, Daniel Kahnke and Ted Wachter in van. She found many noise problems and poor video
quality and determined that the video is not usable. Kahnke mentioned that there is another video
that is likely better quality and suggested she review this one instead. Joanna agreed that this video
will be reviewed.
HISTORIC TRAILS
Historical Roads and Trails – Joanna distributed a memo which has been prepared for the
City Council regarding this project. Members agreed that the memo should go forward. Members
also reviewed the sign art which has been prepared by C.J. Lilly, Landscape Architect for the City
