Document - Historical Society Minutes - Minutes - 8/5/2002HISTORICAL COMMITTEE AUGUST 5, 2002 A meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Monday, August 5, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. Those present were Ray Wade, Gin Knight, Helen Kennedy, Ted Wachter and Bea Blomquist. Tom Garrison, City of Eagan’s Communications Director, introduced himself and met members of the History Committee. He spoke on verbal histories, identifying community assets and who those assets are. Kennedy made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 3 meeting as presented, Wachter seconded. All members voted in favor. SORTING SESSIONS / WORK THEMES August 12, August 19 and August 26 – sort and work on window displays from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. It was decided to do at least two windows prior to voting dates because of the increase in residents here with the primary and general elections. OPEN HOUSES August 11 1:00-3:00 p.m. Ray and Martin September 8 1:00-3:00 p.m. Back-to-School Theme (all available members) Committee members discussed holding an ice cream social or other event during the open house to generate more interest. It was decided to have bunting for the outside rail at the Old Town Hall and to bring something that would prop open the windows. Blomquist agreed to get bunting. RAISING AWARENESS OF HISTORICAL SOCIETY WITH COMMUNITY Kennedy made a motion to have a display booth from the History Committee at the Lone Oak Days Festival at Holz Farm, move the Open House to September 22, and put flyers on cars at Lone Oak Days asking for new members, Blomquist seconded. All members voted in favor. Kennedy made a motion to move the September meeting date from the 2nd to the 9th , Blomquist seconded. All members voted in favor. Kennedy made a motion to schedule a professional photographer to take a photo of the History Committee and to notice members and ask them to RSVP, Wachter seconded. All members voted in favor. Blomquist made a motion to hold a Historic Trails meeting on August 19 and further discuss the open house planning, Kennedy seconded. All members voted in favor. Historical Committee August 5, 2002/2 Wade stated he has the name and phone number for a native American representative and he will call asking if the representative can attend the August 19th meeting. Committee members agreed to have a television brought over to the Old Town Hall for August 11th. NEXT MEETING The next Historical Committee meeting is set for Monday, September 9, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. ADJOURNMENT The Committee members adjourned the meeting at 4:45 p.m.
