Document - Historical information/data - Minutes -Eagan Historical Society Mission:
The Eagan Historical Society mission is to collect and preserve the history of Eagan for
the good of the public.
Eagan Historical Society Goals:
1. Determine 2002 Budget
2. Determine Organizational Format:
a. A Commission ultimately responsible to the City Council
b. A Commission under the jurisdiction of City Council that could be
set up by ordinance.
c. A non-profit corporation essentially independent of the City but
responsible to the City Council because of the need for funding
and space.
3. Determine Space needs, location and plan for acquisition/implementation.
i.e. If Old Town Hall site is determined to be the desired location for
Historical Society, the following questions must be answered:
• how much space would be necessary?
• how would it be utilized?
• would this be public space or for Society use only?
• what requirements are necessary of the space (climate
control, restrooms, etc.)?
• How to proceed with funding and building?
• Where and how to operate in interim?
4. Determine duties, responsibilities and capabilities of Commission/Society members.
5. Determine additional needs
