Historical Society Business
Card Project
Foote noted that the card project has been very successful. Approximately 50 decks
were set aside for visiting dignitaries. A second printing of 1,000 has now been
ordered; they should arrive the week of September 20th.
School Delivery Update
Foote stated that Knight has delivered several boxes of cards to Eagan schools. A letter
explaining the project was delivered with each set of cards. Knight gave a brief update
on the deliveries. Commission members volunteered to deliver the decks to the
remaining schools.
September 26 Open House Plans
DesLauriers, Miller, Knight and Bob & Mimi Cerny will be available for the Open
House, which will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Miller agreed to pick up
cookies and Knight cider. Foote noted that the displays are set up. She will check on
the book supply. Foote and Knight will check on the supply of pencils. If the supply is
low, they will decide on another hand-out for the Open House.
September 28, Girl Scout Request
Foote reported that a group of Girl Scouts, who are working on their community badge,
have requested information regarding the history of Eagan. Wachter and DesLauriers
will be available to meet with the Girl Scouts at Old Town Hall on September 28.
1914 Town Hall Building Maintenance Issues
The group briefly discussed maintenance issues. Wachter will coordinate caulking that
should be done before winter.
Map File Findings
DesLauriers has been in contact with Dakota County; they will get back to him with
any information they have regarding any file cabinets they may be discarding. He also
contacted Dakota Abstract and was informed that they recently purged some old file
cabinets of this type. In addition, DesLauriers spoke with the surveyors and was told
they did not have any map files. It appears they have gone to electronic map filing.
Foote stated that if the group cannot find any map files, they can be purchased at a cost
of about $1,200 each.
Schedule Work Session
Complete Set of Eagan Telephone Directories
Foote stated that it would be a good idea for the Historical Society to have a complete
set of Eagan telephone directories. She has located a box of directories that we have in
the basement collection and compiled a list of those that are missing. She asked
members to bring in any old directories they might have in the hopes of completing a
set. DesLauriers stated that he believes he has many of the past directories which he
will bring to donate for the collection. It was suggested that Dakota County Library be
contacted to see if they have any old directories or other information pertinent to Eagan
History they would be willing to give to the Historical Society. There was brief
discussion regarding the location of information pertaining to past elections.
The next work session was scheduled for September 14, at 1:30 p.m.
Next Historical Society Meeting
The next meeting of the Historical Society will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
October 5, 2004.
Adjournment
Bob Cerny moved to adjourn the meeting; Mimi Cerny seconded the motion with all
members present voting in favor.
