JANUARY 4, 2005
A meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 3:30 p.m.
Those present were Ted Wachter, Gin Knight, Kim Hazel, Bob and Mimi Cerny. Also present was
Joanna Foote, Communications Coordinator.
AGENDA ADOPTION
The agenda was approved by acclamation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Gin Knight made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 7, 2004 regular meeting
of the Eagan Historical Society. Mimi Cerny seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
APPOINT VICE CHAIR
Gin Knight volunteered to be Vice Chair of the Historical Society. No vote was necessary.
DISTRIBUTE POLICE 40TH ANNIVERSARY STORY
There was no action taken on this item. The Policy 40th Anniversary Story was distributed.
UPDATE ON PENCILS/PENS
Foot explained that she had ordered what she thought were the same twig-style pencils the
group has used as give-aways in the past. Unfortunately, when the order arrived, she discovered
they were twig pens instead. The group discussed this change and agreed to keep the pens.
DISPLAY UPDATE
Gin Knight will talk to Becky at the Community Center regarding creating another card
display. Gin Knight and Kim Hazel will work on switching the displays from upstairs to
downstairs. Ted Wachter will help if he’s in town.
SUMMER OPEN HOUSES
Discussion on the summer open houses was tabled.
OTHER BUSINESS
The Committee discussed having a drawing for a Lone Oak book at the open houses. They
also discussed putting coupons in the deck of cards box for $2.00 off the purchase of a Lone Oak
Historical Committee

Book. They further discussed having a coupon inserted in residents’ utility bills. The Committee
discussed different card games that could be developed and ways to use the history cards. Mimi
Cerny offered to work on the letter which will go to schools to remind them that each school has a
set of the cards and to find out how/if they are using them. Joanna will compile bullet points for the
letter, if any member would like to include something specific into the letter, please let Joanna
know by the February meeting. Ted Wachter stated that at some point the history cards should be
updated to include notable people of Eagan.
Ted Wachter donated “Over the Years” a Dakota County Historical Society publication
which is related to the Lone Oak Tree. Wachter also showed a Deed by Congress which he will be
researching further.
Gin Knight inquired about the map file. Joanna Foote, Communications Coordinator, stated
funds are available and are not date specific so she and Kim and perhaps Judith will continue to
look for one at a better price.
NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING
The next Historical Society meeting is scheduled for February 1, 2005 at 3:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
Bob Cerny made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:37 p.m. Kim Hazel seconded the
motion. All members voted in favor.
