MINUTES
EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
FEBRUARY 1, 2005
A meeting of the Eagan Historical Society was held on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at 3:30
p.m. Those present were Gin Knight, Bob and Mimi Cerny, Alyce Bolke, Mary Ellen Voracek,
Kim Hazel, Ted Wachter and Ray Wade. Also present was Communications Coordinator Foote.
The meeting was preceded by a work session to rearrange the Municipal Center Display windows.
AGENDA
The agenda was approved by acclamation.
Wachter presented very wide barbed wire with spikes from the 1820’s.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Knight made a motion to approve the minutes of the January 4, 2005 Eagan Historical
Society; Bob Cerny seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
DISPLAY UPDATE
Hazel suggested putting together a display on the Eagan phone books. The Committee also
suggested the purchase of picture frames and book stands for general display uses.
Knight made a motion to request Park Maintenance staff to make a display case for the Old
Town Hall, shadow box style, of similar size to the display cases located at the Eagan Municipal
Center; Voracek seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
DISCUSSION OF SUMMER OPEN HOUSES
The Committee discussed summer open houses of the old Town Hall.
The Committee further discussed the consideration of making the Old Town Hall available
to schools for field trips.
PHOTO HISTORY BOOK INQUIRY
The Committee discussed making photos and albums from negatives that are located in a
box in the basement of City Hall. They further discussed adding the Lone Oak Book to the card
display. The Committee also discussed marketing ideas for the history decks of cards. They
discussed marketing the decks to realtors and letting them know these are available and suggested

making the decks available at the Realtors Forum held at City Hall in May. Foote will look into the
feasibility. The Committee inquired about advertising the decks of cards in the utility bills sent out
to residents.
NEW PROJECTS
Thresher Fields’ sign, purchase frames and book stands for displays.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be March 1, 2005 at 3:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
Wade made a motion to adjourn the meeting of the Historical Society at 4:00 p.m.; Mimi
Cerny seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
