DISPLAY CASE FOR 1914 TOWN HALL Members discussed the possibility of asking Park Maintenance staff to construct a display case that could be placed at the 1914 Town Hall, which would have similar dimensions as the display cases in the Municipal Center. The idea for use is that displays could then easily be transferred from the Municipal Center to the 1914 Town Hall. Joanna will coordinate this with Parks Maintenance staff. Historical Committee March 1, 2005/2 OTHER BUSINESS The Committee continued their discussion on other matters of importance. Below are issues discussed:  History Matters – Mimi Cerny updated the group regarding the MN Historical Society’s “History Matters” initiative and an upcoming rally at the Capitol.  Ancient tree display – Ray Wade asked if anything had been done with the ancient wood that had been found in Eagan. Foote indicated that the wood is still in the possession of Forestry staff and we have had no luck in finding any contact to help us create an adequate display system for this material which must remain in an airtight and light-controlled condition. Inquiries have been made to the MN Science Museum and MN Historical Society with no success. Staff will continue to research options as time allows. Members are encouraged to research any avenues or contacts they may be aware of.  Cedar Grove water tower photo – Ray Wade was able to locate and procure a photo of the Cedar Grove Water Tower which he provided to the Committee.  Ted Wachter donated a number of farming items to the committee including an onion weeder and a corn husker.  Mary Ellen Voracek brought samples of photo/book stands she found for use in displays. She will purchase more for the Committee’s use.  Tom Garrison suggested creating an event or time to solicit photographs of early Eagan  Judith Miller / located map file on ebay and is willing to purchase.
