EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
JULY 12, 2005
A meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. in
the Eagan Room of the Eagan City Hall. Members present were: Mary Ellen Voracek, Gin
Knight, Kim Hazel, Bob and Mimi Cerny and Ray Wade. Ray Wade brought and introduced a
guest, Bob McKewin. Also present was Communications Coordinator Foote.
AGENDA ADOPTION
The agenda was approved by acclamation with the addition of several items.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ray Wade made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 7, 2005 regular meeting of the
Eagan Historical Society. Mary Ellen Voracek seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
Gin Knight Chaired the meeting. Rev. Bob McKewin was a visitor attending the meeting.
Gin Knight welcomed back Ray and Bob. Ray Wade brought a copy of the 1965 Town Hall Open
House Flyer and a photo of the water tower given to the Committee by Ken Morrison.
REALTOR FORUM
Joanna Foote introduced the item thanking Martin and Gin for helping out and stating 2
Lone Oak books were sold, along with 7 decks of the History on Deck cards and 4 CD’s at the
Realtor Forum on June 22, 2005.
THRESHER FIELDS MARKER SIGN
Gin Knight gave an update on the sign for Thresher Fields. The Minnesota Historical
Society suggested we call the City of Anoka because of the excellent marker they have for the river
front area with newer material which holds up better against vandalism and weather.
Gin Knight suggested a field trip to the City of Anoka possibly in September to view their
signs.
FALL OPEN HOUSE
Joanna Foote introduced the item stating the Experience Eagan Open House will be held at
the Community Center on September 22, 2005 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Historical Society is
welcome and encouraged to staff a table/display. Joanna also noted that Lone Oak Days is
September 24th and 25th. The Committee determined it would hold its 1914 Town Hall Open House

on Sunday September 25. The Committee discussed the open houses and it was suggested to ask
Kay Gustafson if she will do a reading during the open house.
ITEMS TO SHARE
Ray Wade stated he would like to place an item on next month’s agenda regarding the
Eagan Historical Society’s library. He further stated he will prepare information on that item for the
August meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
Ray Wade made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mimi Cerny seconded the motion. All
members voted in favor.
