HISTORICAL EVENT IDEA The Committee discussed historical event ideas. Some of the ideas discussed were; Back to the 40’s Event, Farm Days and War Years’ Memories. The Committee discussed perhaps having David Schreier as a speaker regarding veterans in Dakota County as a part of a WWII memories event. Ted Wachter stated he attended a talk by the Rosemount Curator on the war years. Ted Wachter brought several items he has saved since World War II; gas ration papers, etc. which he donated to the Historical Society. Gin Knight, Alyce Bolke and Ted Wachter agreed to work on this project together. Events Supervisor Bolduc will discuss this project with the Lone Oak Group and ask for a couple of members to volunteer. THRESHERS FIELDS MARKER SIGNS Foote introduced the item and stated she will check with Dakota County Tribune and find out if they have photos of the Threshing “B” Festivals from the 1960’s to the 1970’s; The crops primarily threshed were oats and wheat. The Committee discussed photos on Ted Wachter’s 8mm film and whether photos could be taken from his film. Joanna will check into this possibility. SUGGESTIONS FOR ROAD RENAMING Foote introduced the item giving a brief background on the submittal of Patrick Eagan Parkway or Patrick Eagan Place as possibilities to replace Civic Center Parkway. The Committee Historical Committee October 5, 2005 discussed names and determined that Civic or Municipal Ave, Rd, place, etc. might be most appropriate. Ideas were also discussed for the possible renaming of a small roadway length in northwest Eagan, just west of Cedar Ave that is still called Olds Sibley Memorial Highway. This segment of roadway is so detached from the rest of Old Sibley Memorial Highway (Highway 13) it no longer makes sense. Voracek made a motion to suggest remaining the roadway as Kennealy Way since the original Kennealy farm was located in that area and to honor long-time Eagan residents & Historical Society members, Joe & Elisabeth Kennealy. Bolke seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
