EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
MARCH 7, 2006
A meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. in
the Eagan Room of the Eagan City Hall. Members present were: Gin Knight, Kim Hazel, Jean
Funk, Ray Wade, Alyce Bolke and Millie Gignac. Also present was Communications
Coordinator Foote. Chair Wachter was not present so Vice-Chair Knight Chaired the meeting.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Gin Knight called the meeting to order at 3:40 p.m. Members reviewed the minutes from
the February 7, 2006 meeting.
Upon motion by Funk, seconded by Wade, the minutes of the February 7, 2006 meeting of
the Eagan Historical Society was approved. All members voted in favor.
AGENDA
A new item was added to the agenda; Sperry Project. Knight discussed a project in which
she’s helping a group of Sperry/Univac Employees/Retirees compile information on
Sperry/Univac’s history in Eagan.
WWII
Cathy Bolduc, Program and Events Supervisor for the City of Eagan and Millie Gignac,
Alyce Bolke, Kim Hazel and Gin Knight, who were all involved in the meeting, updated the
Committee on the “Eagan Remembers: WWII Era” June 13 or 14 event that is being planned. They
talked about the displays, planned events and the Flag Day concert. The group discussed potential
individuals to involve who may be Veterans, have specific memories or items they may be willing
to talk about or share. The WWII Era event planning group will meet again prior to next month’s
meeting on April 4 at 2:30 p.m. at City Hall.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY BUDGET AND PROJECTS DISCUSSION
Hazel made a motion to designate the Historic Town Hall sign as the first project for 2006.
Funk seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
Hazel reported that she had been to the Old Town Hall and inspected everything and
everything was in good order. Hazel will talk to Paul Graham regarding maintenance issues at the
Old Town Hall. Foote will also talk to Paul Graham regarding the construction of some display
cases for the Town Hall.

OTHER
An agenda item for the April Eagan Historical Society meeting will be to discuss the job
description for an Intern to be employed by the Historical Society this summer. Please come to the
meeting with ideas of how the intern might be most effectively utilized. Foote will contact the MN
Historical Society regarding their intern recruitment process.
NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING
The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 3:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
Upon motion by Bolke, seconded by Wade, the committee adjourned the meeting at 4:18 p.m.
