Document - Historical Society Minutes - Historical Society Minutes 04042006 - 4/4/2006MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY APRIL 4, 2006 A meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagan Room of the Eagan City Hall. Members present were: Ted Wachter, Gin Knight, Kim Hazel, Ray Wade, Mary Allen Voracek and Millie Gignac. Also present was Communications Coordinator Foote. This meeting followed a planning meeting for the Eagan Remembers: WWII Era, planning meeting at which all of the same members were in attendance. AGENDA ADOPTION Upon motion by Knight, seconded by Wade, the agenda was approved as presented. All members voted in favor. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Voracek made a motion to approve the minutes amending them to show she was present at the March 7, 2006 meeting. Knight seconded the motion to amend the minutes as presented. All members voted in favor. NEW EQUIPMENT The committee was told of the new computer table, book cases and file cabinet that had been acquired as the Police Department got rid of its surplus office equipment. An upgraded computer has been requested through the IT staff and it is hoped that this computer should be in place by next month’s meeting. Foote suggested that the group visit the basement office to see the new equipment and an outline of perspective new office space following the meeting. TOWN HALL MAINTENANCE ISSUES The committee members discussed maintenance issues and agreed the trim should be painted in the 2006 summer season. OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULE It was determined that there would be a Fall 2006 Open House. INTERN JOB DESCRIPTION The committee discussed the Intern job description, describing duties to be performed and desired skills in historical preservation and/or library sciences. They discussed that possible candidates possess skills in assisting the exploration of grants and available funding opportunities. OTHER Historical Committee April 4, 2006/2 The committee recommended that a regular report be sent to the City Council to recap the Historical Society’s activities. Knight made a motion to approve up to $200 to be made available to fund rental fees at the Eagan Community Center for the Eagan Remembers: WWII Era event being held on June 13, 2006. Voracek seconded the motion. All members voted in favor. NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be Tuesday, May 9, 2006 (second Tuesday of Month instead of usual 1st Tuesday) at 3:30 p.m. An Eagan Remembers: WWII Era planning meeting will be held April 25 at 2:30 p.m. and on May 9 at 2:30 p.m. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m. Members gathered to tour the basement office.
