Document - Historical Society Minutes - Historical Society Minutes 06062006 - 6/6/2006MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY JUNE 6, 2006 A meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, June 6, 2006. The WWII Era – Eagan Remembers Historical Event planning meeting was held at 2:30 p.m. with the regular meeting at 3:30 p.m. in the Lunch Room of the Eagan City Hall. Members present were: Gin Knight, Kim Hazel, Ray Wade, Martin DesLauriers and Millie Gignac. Also present was Communications Coordinator Foote. SELECT MEETING CHAIR Knight was appointed meeting Chair in the absence of Chair Wachter. All members voted in favor. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Hazel made a motion to approve the minutes as presented for the May 9, 2006 meeting. Wade seconded the motion. All members voted in favor. INTRODUCTION OF INTERN Communication Coordinator Foote told the group that a young woman named Crystal Stevenson, would be working this summer as an Eagan Historical Society Intern. The Committee discussed projects for Intern Stevenson, including the photo file, clippings file and gathering of photos from the This Week newspaper, etc. Stevenson was not able to join the group on the 6th but will be introduced at a future date. OTHER The Committee discussed stores/businesses located within the Cedarvale shopping area. The list included: Cedric’s, Sears catalogue, Maggs, Clothes Tree, Peoples Natural Gas, Charlie’s Choo Choo, a record store, Kirby Vacuum, located in the basement, Ben Franklin, Robert’s Drug, Applebaums Grocery, Cedarvale Tailors, a barber shop and Mike’s Shoe Shop. The Committee suggested inviting Dave the barber to a Historical Society meeting. DeLauriers talked about a collection of rubber tires and hoses. The Committee expressed sympathy for the passing of Al Baker. UPDATE OF JUNE 14 “EAGAN REMEMBERS: WWII ERA” EVENT Historical Committee June 20, 2006/2 The Committee discussed final details to the “Eagan Remembers: WWII Era” event on June 14. It was suggested to distribute notices to the senior housing locations. Foote also reminded participants to meet at the Lone Oak Room in the Community Center by 11:00 a.m. NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting date was changed due to the 4th of July holiday. ADJOURNMENT DesLauriers made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:10 p.m.; Wade seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
