Document - Historical Society Minutes - Historical Society Minutes 07112006 - 7/11/2006MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY JULY 11, 2006 A regular meeting of the Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagan Room at Eagan City Hal. Members present were: Gin Knight, Kim Hazel, Ray Wade, Mar y Ellen Voracek and Ted Wachter. Also present was Communications Coordinator Foote. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Knight called the meeting to order. Voracek made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 6, 2006 Eagan Historical Society meeting as presented. Wade seconded the motion. All members voted in favor. RECAP OF WWII REMEMBERS EVENT Foote stated there will be a meeting on August 1, 2006 at 2:45 p.m. for the purpose of discussing the Eagan Remembers: WWII Event that was held on June 14, 2006. INTRODUCE INTERN PROJECTS The Committee discussed Intern projects and compiled the following list: • Review display material and make preservation recommendations • Provide advice on record management • Newspaper clippings • Visit Minnesota Historical Society, Dakota County Historical Society and This Week Newspaper morgues for material to be used by the Eagan Historical Society • Assist with September Open House preparation • Coordinate donations and interviews with community members SEPTEMBER OPEN HOUSE PLANNING The Committee discussed holding an Open House Planning Meeting on September 24, 2006 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. 2007 BUDGET REVISIONS Foote gave a brief background on the 2007 budget revisions. The Committee further discussed the revisions. Historical Committee July 11, 2006/2 Foote gave a brief background on the 2007 budget revisions noting that monies intended for use to build a secure room in the City Hall basement for use by the Historical Society had to be removed from budget consideration. It was discovered that construction costs and requirements would greatly exceed expectations due to sprinkling and HVAC requirements beyond those anticipated. The Committee further discussed the revisions. OTHER The Committee discussed the airing of the WWII event on the City’s cable channel. Foote noted the Flag Day piece is still in the works and currently airing is the piece on Dick Carroll’s experiences. NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 3:30 p.m.
