EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
September 6, 2006
A regular meeting of the Eagan Historical Committee was held on Wednesday, September
6, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagan Room at Eagan City Hall. Members present were: Gin Knight,
Ray Wade, Kim Hazel, Martin DesLauriers and Alyce Bolke. Also present was Communications
Coordinator Foote.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Knight called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m. Hazel made a motion to approve the minutes
of the August 1, 2006 Eagan Historical Society meeting as presented. Wade seconded the motion.
All members voted in favor.
WORK SESSION UPDATE
Knight, Bolke, Hazel and Foote reported that they had sorted and filed a variety of materials
and worked to place a number of fragile paper items into protective sleeves to prolong their
integrity. The Group also identified which items would be taken over to the 1914 Town Hall for
display at the Open Houses.
SEPTEMBER OPEN HOUSE PLANNING
Following discussion regarding the September 24 Open House having been inadvertently
scheduled on Rosh Hashanah, the group discussed the possibilities of either changing the Open
House date or adding a second Open House. A motion was made by DesLauriers and seconded by
Wade to hold an additional Open House on Thursday, September 22, 2006 from 5 to 7 p.m. All
members voted in favor. DesLauriers, Hazel and Wade agreed to staff the Open House on the 22nd.
Knight, Bolke and Hazel agreed to staff the September 24 Open House with other members joining
as available. Foote indicated that she would be at both.
Foote also stated that she would contact the newspapers and cable facility, in addition to placing it
on the City’s Web site, to publicize the additional Open House.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY BUSINESS CARDS
Foote noted that she had gotten approval to prepare business cards for use by the Historical
Society which had been requested and directed for design at the last meeting. The cards will have
both the City logo and the Historical Society logo in addition to contact information. Foote will
contact the City’s vendor and have these created.
NEXT PROJECTS
Historical Committee
August 1, 2006/2
The group determined it would begin thinking about projects or events it might like to sponsor or
host in the future. Some suggestions included speakers, book readings and genealogy research tips.
This item will be discussed further in the future.
NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING
The next regular meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at
3:30 p.m. with Open Houses on September 22 and 24. Members also requested that the viewing of the
video “Turn Here Sweet Corn” be set up for the next meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
Hazel made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:15 p.m. Bolke seconded the motion. All
members voted in favor.
