UPDATE ON INTERN
Foote introduced the item stating that intern Alicia Seewald completed her 120 required
hours of internship and is presently in Paris. Foote stated the committee has budgeted money for an
intern at $7.00 an hour for 160 hours. The hope is to bring Seewald back to fill these additional
hours, but her need for a fulltime job may not allow her to do so.
SHOWCASE EAGAN RECAP
Foote stated the Showcase Eagan event was held on May 17, 2007 and there were
approximately 1,300 people in attendance. She stated Gin Knight, Kim Hazel and Mary Ellen
Voracek were in attendance to staff the booth for the History Society. Also present was Millie
Gignac with the Eagan Senior Group’s booth. The Committee noted several people put their names
on a list showing interest in the Eagan Historical Society. Also someone mentioned donating the
barn on Lexington and County Road 30 to the committee. Knight stated there was interest in the 48
star flag which was displayed at the event. Foote also noted that the Historical Society’s barrel-
shaped ballot box and the Eagan Bell were also on display at the event with credit given to the
Historical Society.

who will also be performing the National Anthem, the Puppet Wagon, a presentation on flag
etiquette by Eagan Police Officer Bill White and an ice cream social. She stated the library will
display books relative to the American flag and American history and will do readings; Bill White
will also give a presentation on historical flags. Foote also stated the Blue Star Moms will be
present.
Wade volunteered to do research of the Minnesota flag for a display at the event.
2008 BUDGET REQUEST
Historical Committee
June 5, 2007/2
Foote noted department budgets for the City are to be completed this month. She stated she
will, at the committee’s direction, request that additional money be budgeted for an intern for 2008
and also additional time.
Also within its budgeting discussion, the committee discussed the security and maintenance
of the 1914 Old Town Hall building and potential needs.
Foote noted that 2008 is the 150th anniversary of the state of Minnesota and the state is
asking communities to be involved in the celebration. She stated the committee should think about
ways the City of Eagan and the Historical Society can play an active role in the celebration and,
further, stated this item will be placed on the next History Committee agenda. Foote suggested
recognizing something in the community that was significant to the state or region at that time and
perhaps creating and dedicating an historical sign to denote the site or event.
OTHER
Foote presented a picture of Holz Farm painted and donated by Helen Kennedy to the Eagan
Historical Society.
Knight presented Kim Hazel, on behalf of the committee, a certificate and card thanking
Kim for all the work she has done for the committee as an Eagan City employee. Knight noted that
