Chair Wachter called the meeting to order. The minutes of the August 5, 2008 Eagan
Historical Society meeting were approved as presented.
VOLUNTEERS TO STAFF OPEN HOUSE
Wachter introduced the item. Volunteers will be needed to staff the open house on October
5, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wachter, Gignac, Voracek, Hazel, DesLauriers and Knight
volunteered to participate in the open house event and Knight volunteered to bring cider and
cookies.
The Committee agreed not to hold a pre-open house work session date, but will arrive
approximately at 10:30 a.m. for set-up.
PLAYING CARD UPDATE/ORDER
Foote introduced the item stating the Eagan Convention and Visitors Bureau requested
purchasing 500 decks of cards for Eagan hotels to leave in rooms of media covering the Republican
National Convention. Foote stated we sold them 280 decks for $1400.
Foote noted an email from the Alfred Rahn family stating that Alfred Rahn’s picture is
shown with the card about Arthur Rahn. Foote noted the picture was taken from the Lone Oak
Years book (which also had it incorrect). Foote has assured the Rahn family that the error will be
corrected in the next printing. The Committee discussed putting together information for a new set
of cards to be ready in 2010.
DesLauriers and Wachter discussed early businesses located in Eagan. It was stated that
K. W. McKee was the first industrial business and in the 1950’s Mr. McKee built the McKee
Housing Addition for his employees. Lull Engineering was named as the second industrial
business. Wachter stated John Nassef of West Publishing met with the Planning Commission at
City Hall to discuss West Publishing’s relocation.

agenda for further discussion.
Foote shared a thank you card with the Committee from Helen Kennedy.
