Document - Historical Society Minutes - Eagan Historical Society Minutes 02032009 - 2/3/2009MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY TUESDAY FEBRUARY 3, 2009 3:30 p.m. – EAGAN ROOM A regular meeting of the Eagan Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagan Room at Eagan City Hall. Members present were: Ted Wachter, Kim Hazel, Gin Knight, Dawn Simpson, Mary Ellen Voracek, Millie Gignac and Carolyn Krech. Also present was Communication Coordinator Foote. APPROVAL OF NOVEMBER 18, 2008 MINUTES The minutes of the January 6, 2008 Eagan Historical Society meeting were approved with a change to the date of the potluck which should instead be April 29 rather than April 20. CARD REPRINTING Foote gave an update on the History on Deck playing card reprinting saying they are now in process and should likely arrive by early March. COMMUNITY PHOTO PROJECT Foote introduced the item giving an update regarding the project and conversation with Larry Werner at Thisweek Newspapers. Thisweek is interested in assisting with the project, especially if they can have access to some of the photos for use in their publications. Foote will follow up with him to further outline details of what is needed. The Committee discussed the need for full contact information from people supplying photos and also noted they would request the people come prepared with all information pertaining to the photos. Foote indicated she will be putting notices in all local papers and City publications including The Front Porch News and the Experience Eagan Newsletter regarding the community photo event. OTHER Knight stated the disk on a the accession system doesn’t fit the computer in the basement office. Foote stated she will ask that the computer be upgraded. Simpson brought in an article regarding the old Cedar Avenue Bridge. She also brought several photographs of Lexington Avenue prior to it being a 4-lane road. Simpson also shared photos of Historical Committee February 3, 2008 Northwood Park Road, her property, storm photos and others. Simpson stated she will scan photos and send them to Joanna for the collection. NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagan Room. ADJOURNMENT Voracek made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:50 p.m., Simpson seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
