Document - Historical Society Minutes - Eagan Historical Society Minutes 03032009 - 3/3/2009MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY TUESDAY MARCH 3, 2009 3:30 p.m. – EAGAN ROOM A regular meeting of the Eagan Historical Committee was held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagan Room at Eagan City Hall. Members present were: Ted Wachter, Kim Hazel, Linda Bendt, Dawn Simpson, Mary Ellen Voracek and Millie Gignac. Also present was Communication Coordinator Foote. APPROVAL OF NOVEMBER 18, 2008 MINUTES The minutes of the February 3, 2008 Eagan Historical Society meeting were approved as presented. CARD REPRINTING Foote gave an update on the History on Deck playing card reprinting status stating the reprinting is finally under way and the order is expected to arrive shortly. COMMUNITY PHOTO PROJECT Foote introduced the item commenting the most recent Experience Eagan Newsletter has an article on the front page entitled “Your Photos Are Our History” which also contains a quote from Committee member Simpson. Foote also noted the Discover Eagan and the Front Porch News, which are two of Parks publications, each contain an article regarding the project, the reader board has been advertising the need for photos, and the Eagan This Week newspaper will assist with the event. Foote stated the community dates and times are March 21 from noon to 3:00 p.m. and April 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Foote stated she would like members to meet at the Lone Oak room by 11:15 a.m. on the 21st. She sent a sign-up sheet around for both dates. The Committee discussed selling the History on Deck playing cards and also having applications available for people interested in joining the Eagan Historical Society. Foote also stated there will be a potluck on April 29th date. The Committee discussed individual arrangements for certain people unable to attend the event dates or if more assistance is needed for specific set-up for the events. SHOWCASE EAGAN Historical Committee March 3, 2008 Foote introduced the item stating the Showcase Eagan event will be held on June 4, 2009 with an informational meeting being held on Saturday, March 14. Simpson made a motion to participate in the Showcase Eagan event. Hazel seconded the motion. All members voted in favor. TOWN HALL MAINTENANCE Foote introduced the item stating Paul Graham will see that maintenance is done on preserving the Old Town Hall building. He will be meeting with contractors over the next few weeks and get the projects underway in early spring. NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in the Eagan Room. ADJOURNMENT Gignac made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:18 p.m. Voracek seconded the motion. All members voted in favor.
